Green Cleaning Kit?

Featured Replies

Had my green panel filter fitted for a good few thousand and think it could do with a clean.

Where can I buy a cleaning kit? And how much?

Would you recommend a green kit, or will say a pipercross or K&N kit do exactly the same job?

Thanks

I payed around

paid £10 for green panel cleaning kit from deamon tweeks last week.

Good price!

Is there any known advice on the cleaning intervals for the Green panels? Yearly perhaps?

Steve

It's 5k IIRC.

Mine gets done a bit more often though.

Hmmm, ok cheers - a bit more often than I thought then!

Might take a peek at mine, see how its faring - the next dry weekend day we get :D

One warning, it must be completely dry before you oil and refit it. I usually find putting it in the oven on about at about 50c for 10 mins does the trick nicely.

Hi

I think the panel instructions said 5000 Kilometers. Obviously more cleaning in summer required (genreally wet winter weather helps keep airborne dust lower).

I used the cleaning detergent for the first wash, now use Fairy liquid and apply 50 / 50 mix with water gently with a soft brush. Just work it gently in and leave for 10 mins then rinse out and repeat until suds come out white.

DRY THOROUGHLY before re oiling.

It does get seriously mucky really quickly - I was doing mine every 2 months (4k ish)

I bought the cleaning kit from Halfrauds. Can't remember exactly how much mind.

Cheers for the replies, that's great.

How many 'cleans' do these kits last for?

The oil would probably last the life of the filter i.e. a very long time. You only apply a wee bit.

The detergent however will only do 5 or so imho, but any detergent will do tbh! :)

The 250 ml (I think, possibly 500ml) bottle I got lasted one clean, you literally leave the filter soaking in a tray of the stuff just deep enough to cover the pleats but not so deep as to get into the clean back side of the filter.

The oil will last for ages. Only takes around 21 squirts to do the panel in the Fabia, so far had it in for 30,000 miles 6 or 7 cleans and still hardly made an impression in the oil supplied. Dont over oil as this will possibly lead to MAF contamination.
