Scanning photos and negatives

Featured Replies

Any recommendations for scanners that scan negatives and prints into digital images for my pc?

And how long would it take for say a 1x4 35m frame to be scanned in?

Thanks

There are a few "negative scanners" on ebay. My mate bought one and the results were really good. I think it was a canon one.

Have used an Epson film scan before with varying results. Very slow job too :(

If you want to scan both negs and prints you will need a flatbed scanner

Does anyone know if you can scan 35mm slides with a normal flatbed scanner?

You could but with limited results, the file sizes are huge to retain quality and they can be grainy :( If you only have slides or negs then go for a film scanner, if you only have a few rolls see if someone like Jessops [or the other scan-capable] firms will do it for you at a reasonable cost.

I would offer but the drivers for my scanner are Win95 only [:|] and it takes forever :(

I have a HP Scannjet 4670 that will do negatives. while it does do them it'll only do one a t a time the results aren't great. I not very happy with it.

If I were you and didn't need a scanner for anything else I'd buy a dedicated negative scanner from someone like canon.

For example Amazon.com: Canon CanoScan 9950F Flatbed Scanner: Electronics

Might be a bit expensive, but it depends on the quality you need/want
