Fabia cambelt change due?

Featured Replies

1.4 fabia 16v when is the cambelt change due 60k?

i seem to remember that's the one that has been changed to 40k now... anyhow get it done sooner rather than later, because i've seen these snap with less than 30k on them

thanks!

looking to buy a furby me first.

the motor has 58k on a Y plate the elegance model all the knobs and stuff.

so will check out if the belt has been changed if not will give me some price leverage to work with.

for a 1.4-16v on a y plate (2001) with full service history i'd expect to pay about

there's a garage local to me who had a little while ago a black fabia elegance hatchback 1.4-16v 100bhp up for £2995 and that was perfect condition

wow I think I am a bit wet behind the ears when it comes to buying cars.

I will go in low and then see what happens.

like you say 1k off the asking sounds good to me.

more money in my pocket the better.

 buying a white Fabia , i know i wouldn't:rolleyes:

Ah I know not the best colour but that's the point it will be CHEAP and I will be running it for a few years until it will be worth nothing the same as any other colour by then.

and will trade it in against another Skoda I should think so not too botherd.

I just paid 3200 for a Y plate (July 2001) elegance.. Petrol Green with the cream/Toffee interior.. good nick but has had the "touch up brush" treatment here and there.. 53,000, full history! I feel that's about market average as it was advertised at 3700.

Rob :-)

I got my 52 plate 1.9 TDi Elegance for 6k with 20000 miles on it. Seemed good at the time. Couldn't get the dealer to haggle though! Watch it fall apart on the M4 tomorrow ;)

I always do a national search on Autotrader and see what other cars are available, then consider whether it's worth a trip to get something a bit far away. Say if someone gave you a grand and asked you to drive for an hour, you probably would...

The valuations on Parkers and theaa.com are pretty good too provided you adjust them after doing your autotrader search. I usually find them a bit conservative.

Yep when I buy a car I tend to sort out the model/spec I want and then scour Autotrader to get an idea of prices and then travel if necessary to get the right car at the right price :D

I also use the used car valuator on the Vauxhall website which uses Glass' to provide a px price. This may give you a better idea of the margins the dealer is working to.... Oh, and when they won't budge any more go for the freebies - full tank of petrol, mats, etc, etc - they can only say no and if they want your business they'll be flexible :D

update on seeking furby well the car turned out to be a comfort spec arrrh!

no service history although the dealer said he could get it.

so much for adverts in the paper which said Fabia ambiante with fsh

I will get the guy to read what it says on the side of the wing before I travel.

he would do the car for 3k, well I walked away.

so still seeking furby

IIRC Ambient spec is the new version of the Comfort. Spec-wise I believe they're identical........

well something will come along I dont mind the comfort spec if the colour is right and of course the price.
