Couple of Wiring questions

Featured Replies

I have tried to search for the specific answers but cant find any.

Can you tell me:

1) Is there a hole on the left hand side of the bulkhead where i can run an amp power lead? If not is there a hole anywhere that I can run the cable to the battery

2) Which cable is the ignition power cable to turn the amp on when I turn on the ignition. (So the amp turns on at the same time as the head unit)

Your help is much appreciated

Regards

Justin

these is a hole somewhere behind the glove box, which is whare i have mine running. comes out in line with the MAF sensor.

My amps are perminantly connected to the battery and the head unit remote turns on the amps.

Have a look at VRStu's guide to fitting cruise control:

Fabia-vrs.com - Cruise Control Retrofit Guide

and you'll find photos of the location of a grommet behind the glove box you can use.

There is one that runs from the scuttle which is better suited to amp cables. Lift up the leading edge of the scuttle near the battery and you should see a black grommet. You can drill it slightly smaller than your amp cable it it forms a reasonable seal.

You'll need to drop the glove box to pick it up on the inside. It'll come out quite hight up behind the dash.

That is excellent cheers

And thanks for all your replies guys much appreciated.

Fletch I dont suppose you have any pics of the wiring behind the H/U, as it would be useful to see exactly where you have wired up the ignition cable.

I don't sorry....when I wired up my amp, I used the HU to control the turning on and off of the amp. I ran the blue REM cable from the amp to the head unit, at the back of which, there was a bullet connection that it simply plugged into. Which HU have you got?

Are you using the OEM headunit?

Nah mate got a Kenwood one (Havent got the model number to hand)

Well we got it all in, in the end. However there are some small problems. First being that there seems to be no power going to the amp. The second being the H/U has now stopped working. Excuse me for a second..............

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh:finger:

Anyways off to halfrauds tomorrow to see if the its the amp that is not working or whether I have just been a total tool and wired it up wrong

See you didn't tell us that did you.

As posted above the usual trigger for an amp power up is the electric aerial connection on non OEM HU.

Sounds like you may have blown a fuse.
