Seat Belt Buckle Repair?

Featured Replies

My drivers seat belt tongue goes into the buckle only if I hold down the red plastic buckle release at the same time and then let the plastic up.It then holds fine and releases when the plastic is pressed as normal.

This happened out of the blue one day and I have no idea why.

The car is a 2003 1.9 PD130 Estate and so has seat belt warning fitted.

Is it possible to replace the seat belt buckle assembly as a DIY job?

Its fairly easy, just need to remove the seat first and then undo the single spline bolt that secures it to the seat frame.

Not hard to remove and replace the buckle. I'm not sure you can get a replacement buckle without a belt though, and these days you're heading into issues with the pretensioner if you have to replace a belt.

You can gert the buckle on its own no problems so no issue with the pretensioners.

The price will be circa £50!
