5 hour freebie remap

Featured Replies

Just had my octy in at Engine Advantages in Whitam for the free APR 5 hour trial. Couldn't resist the rollers after, 234.6 ponies and 229 lb ft.... put's a smile on ya face i can tell you...:D :D :D .

FREE ????

You must be the first one then!

ps. How much was the roller test then?

How does that work then for five hours?

Do you get to take it out to play with them or was it just on site?

What other modifications have you done to your car? I can remember seeing your car not so long ago and I didn't think you'd done anything to it. As a matter of fact, I thought you'd just got it.

If standard.. 55 bhp gain from a remap, seems excellent.

I think awesome do something similiar, as a sales pitch. You are allowed to drive the car for 5 hours then it expires!

REVO offer similar 'trials'

They put the code on which then times out after x hours. Nice way to get you hooked on the extra power.

nearly 60bhp transmission loss between flywheel figure and wheel figure seems an awful lot for 2wd... ? is this to be expected on these cars? Or is it EA's rolling road being a tad optimistic with it's flywheel calculations?

They also don't pop back the original map, which can potentially make the difference between the two a lot more noticeable. 60bhp losses does seem like a very large amount for a FWD car ... my Scooby (notorious for transmission losses) lost around 80bhp!!! I would expect 30-40bhp losses as a maximum for a FWD car....

If the wheel figure is accurate Id say its around 210-220bhp?

Hi

Yes we do FREE trials on APR we are also offering FREE rolling road printout when you have a remap done

Sarah

Free trials have been around for years i Had an APR trial done but i never got it reactivated and It FECCKKED my ECU.

After about 2-3 thousand ignition starts it brings up an error code that cant be Taken of with the usual RE-Flash or re program.

In the end after speaking to a couple of tuners and dealers who tried to fix said an ECU £700 was needed so a nice person on this forum said to try REVO and sure enough the sorted it,

but to be honoust i dont think its ever been as smooth as before APR got there paws on it.

SO BE WARNED

P.S

236 from a std car is a bit much so what else have you done to it, if std then there rollers must be reading wrong cause i have never heard of an octy getting past 215 with no mods

HI! with all the cars that APR have mapped over the years, i can't say i have ever seen a 'feckked 'ecu. I mean, if dealers around the world are happy to use their software (i.e. VW Mexico!), Then we are too!

I've seen the development that goes into the software, and can say i've never seen anything so impressive.

The error code you mention, no can't be re-flashed, but it doesn't need an ecu.

It needs an error kill program installing and then a re-flash.

Have seen this on many standard cars aswell as re-mapped ones.

Sorry that you've had problems with APR, they have always been known for having super smooth maps, have a look on VW vortex, lots of happy customers.

With this just being one car with a problem rather than many cars, i would say

this was a problem with the car, not the software.

Anymore probs, please feel free to give me a call

Many thanks

Who said it was standard.....;) . Since our last meet (snoops) i have turbo back blue flame with 100 cel, dv30 and carbonio. I did pay

FMIC is well worth it though if you are looking to get & be able to maintain some of the power. Not sure which one is cheapest but anything you've mentioned is better than the standard SMIC. That said, the wheel arch venting modification is worth doing if you are after a very much low cost option :)

Ive read on many forums about the trouble APR has had in the past,

I am sure there are plenty of satisfied customers worldwide but in my case it had to be re-done by another company

cant find the fault code i had printed but i'll try n find it for referance

Hi Mate

Yes it would help , then we can have a look at it

But we have had a few standard ones with this fault , but it would defo help

Sarah

I shouldv'e stated it was only after 2 dealers 1 independant and 1 tuner that i found out it was the trial map. every one said i needed i new ecu to clear code and put the light off. The car still ran OK but i wouldn't know if anything was up with the engine cause of the light.

REVO must have done somthing like you said to clear it.

But some poeple who maybe bought a car after this was done and didn't know any better may of had to pay out which to me is a bit crap.

Maybe customers should be told if they dont wont it activated they should go back to get the program erased and save poeple some probs later on

yeah, 210 - maybe 215 if the tyres are flat :) - is about where i would think if the WHP figure (which is what is actually measured) is right

Can the 5 Hour free trial remap be done on a Octy 110 Tdi???

I have heard of it on the vrs, but never questioned the fact for my car.

I want a remap, but have a lead right foot, and don't want to lose too much MPG!!!

Hope someone knows the answer, and if yes, where from and what type of power fiqures am I likely to get??

Cheers,

Chris

Does anyone know if the trial remap can be done on the 110 Tdi Octy, and if it can, who does it???

Cheers,

Chris
