Aero wiper upgrade Golf MK5 or Octy 2 wipers/arms to Mk1 Octy.

Featured Replies

Having tried different wipers from Valeo and Bosch and in both standard and different lengths, and just replacing the os arm because the blade lifts around 70mph

My current setup is the following 1 x 24inch Valeo spoiler ( drivers )and 1 x 20inch valeo without spoiler ( passenger ), these fit just.

The Bosch ones that I originally bought are the 21inch and 20inch both with spoiler....

The longer blades clear more of the screen thats why I went for them..

But all combinations i've tried are not that good on the Octy 1 , it must be the aerodynamics across the screen because they work fine on the missus Mondeo MK1...

So my question is, I've been looking closly at the wiperarm/blade setup on the MK5 Golf and the MK2 Octavia, and it looks like they could fit on the MK1 Octy and be able to use the standard ( mk2 blades ) - which are 24/19 inch..

The only issue I can think of is if the splined attachments are different on the later models than the earlier cars?

I assume your hoping not to replace the arms? However you will find the Golf mk4 blades and arms are a perfect match. A group buy was organised a few months ago, and I believe the offer is still available from vagparts

I would use the mk4 arms as long as the mk5 blades fitted, I don't think the standard 21/19 blades wipe enough of the screen...

hence using 24/20 or 24/19... bigger area of clear screen...

the MKIV arms and blades are a perfect fit and work just fine on the octy

Am I speaking to myself? .. I think the standard 21/19 wipers

are not as good as 24/20 as more of the screen is clear...

Same reason for fitting uprated bulb's, aero wipers, suspension to rectify things on the car that can be improved!

Also this is not the question i'm asking...

Yes I've considered the retro fit blades, but thought a OEM upgrade would not only look neater but work better..

Well the mounting point on the aero blades is just a hole and nowt else.

I'd think the new Octy blades will fit on the arms MK IV aero arms, but I don't think you will be able to use the longer blades as they were pretty close to top of screen on mine. My dealer tried Octy II arms on my car and they do not fit.

I was only trying to help by pointing out that the MKIV blades and arms worked perfectly, as your original question wasn't the clearest.

If you want to be rude, I won't bother trying to help!

There you've answered the question I asked, the arms won't fit... I already was aware that the MKIV upgrade would fit but it would still be with the standard blade lengths...

As stated my current setup is a 24 drivers and 20 passenger, it just about fits and does not foul anything....

Also I was not trying to be rude, but trying to get an answer to a specific question.. That is not asked/answered by searching..

Just need to obtain MKIV arms and MK5 blades

Thanks for you help..

Ok...

I'm very close to purchasing a MKIV upgrade and a set of MK5 Golf blades...

I'll let U know how I get on.. As standard wipers are almost dangerous in this weather!!!...

How about if it works getting various suppliers to get GB on these?

No good for me but good for others..

Ta Dazz

i've never seena problem with the standard length wipers myself  but i have the aero wipers from that group buy and they are much much better than normal wipers

There is a group buy, i'd have taken the aero arms and std blades off my car, but i think that it is long gone now.

Who is doing the group buy? And how much is the going rate?

Dazz..

P.s. I'll post pics of the normal wipers with 24/20 blades they just fit and wipe a greater area.....

its not like a normal group buy rally, if we could promise a certain minimum number of buyers they gave us a discount which they kept going for a bit, might well still be going.

have a search for aero wiper group buy :)

However you could group buy the arms with blades for £50ish on the group buy and that would still be cheaper than just buying the arms from a dealer etc alone.

Thanks for info. I'll get some if I get the car fixed!

Hi Guys

Sorry for coming in introducing myself half way through the thread etc....

I just bought some of the upgrade wipers from Wiperblades.co.uk and just wondered if anyone finds that the passenger wiper doesn't quite meet the window right at the end? This is quite annoying as it leaves a small bit unwiped which the old wipers didn't, of course you can't bend these wipers to meet either.

I'll post a proper intro in the right forum.

Rob.

Hi All,

Looking to upgrade the wipers to the Bosch Areotwin upgrade kit, but would like to see some pics first. Anyone have any pics to post yet?

Also does anyone know if there is an upgrade Kit for the rear wiper?

Wiperblades .co.uk do not even list a standard blade for the rear of the car.

Cheers
