All I will say is beware the Diesel Particle Filter, these might not take kindly to a tweaked car

I know REVO have a PD170 powered Passat under testing at the moment. Not heard how it's going though.

Interestingly for you Stuart is that I would think a device such as this or a remap may increase exhaust outlet temps and thus improve your current issues.

With regard to the box in question, it is very similar looking to those that have been used on Fabia et al. You should be prepared for a CEL, it may not come on but if your are prepared and have the equipment to extenguish it why not give it a go.

A couple of mapped Superbs Ive heard of have failed in the same way, also with the DPF the tuner cant judge the soot as theres no smoke no matter how much diesel you put in, it just clogs the filter later. I think ditch the DPF is still the way to go once the warranty expires. Aparently Blue Flame have done a system for the Octy already without a dpf

How about trying Superchips? They get + 22% on power bring to TDI 170 to, wait for it, 209bhp! Plus an increase in torque to around 300 ft lb! They are not the cheapest at £511 BUT they are the only guys that I have found who will support a Manufacturers warranty in event of problems (particulate filter perhaps?) on a new(ish) car.

Have a look here Superchips - Superchips Applications.

They are certainly where I am going.

Whats the DPF all about? Looks like i need educating and no doubt someone will enlighten.

Diesel Particulate Filter.

Fitted to reduce emmisions. For the PD170 it works within the CAT and basically uses exhaust gas temp to burn of the waste at intervals determined by the ECU.

Problems occur with lots of short journeys, not reaching a sufficent speed to increase the gas temp and burn the nasties. Got a book about it here if you are having trouble sleeping.
