Tax on Biodiesel for the vRS

Featured Replies

hello,

Following previous discussions here about using biodiesel in the wee vRS, I understood that there weren't any cost benefits by using it but there are mechanical/power benefits and of course environmental benefits.

Would more people use biodiesel in the vRS if it was cheaper?

If you would, then maybe you could consider signing this petition to support the reduction of fuel duty on biodiesel . If nothing else, it'll demonstrate the support of enthusiatic drivers for being environmentally responsible.

Cheers!

I think...

i) Add 5% bio at source, to retail, forecourt diesel as they do on the continent.

ii) "Some" tax breaks for now to encourage people to swap. Unfortunately, I believe that there's no point in allowing everyone to switch as we'd starve. i.e. There ain't enough growing space on the planet. Point of this is to encourage recycling of waste oil and a recycling/greener ethic.

I thought UK forecourt diesel was already 5% biodiesel?

Tax on Bio is already half that of mineral. The cost of Bio is high because of production volume.

I payed 84p per litre for my last batch so perhaps you need to shop around a bit ;)

Nope.

My local ASDA has diesel for...................87.9, so a dealer close by has bio diesel for.............89.9 ???????

which would you use.........doesnt exactly help you make the decision to use bio fuels at that price.......i would love to use it but any right minded person goes for cheapest yes ????

spevie, just a view thats all.

Ahhh, when I bought mine, it was competing against a local price of 92.9p for mineral.

You make an excellent point here but if everyone always did what was best for their own pockets then how do things change for the better? Sometimes you have to decide what is more important. Do a search on Bio threads, there are now quitre a few of them.

I also like the fact that if there is ever another shortage I will at least have fuel on site to get me by for a few weeks :)

Point taken Decron, i would ( and have asked for suppliers in my area ) use bio fuels but the i live in Bradford and the nearest ( i know i said close earlier ) is in Halifax so for me to go to a garage thats 15 miles away to use bio fuels then its actually costing me to make a saving if its cheaper, ??? doesnt sound right that does it ??

Cant find a supplier to deliver say 45g drum cos my neighbour will use it as well, then its ok for me i would use it.....

PS, i know someone said that in the south he gets a 45g drum delivered, he posted a picture of it filling his car ??? why is it always better in the south.....?

That would be this one?

It not in the south, it's in Wales ;) and yes it's always better :D :D

Correct picture Decron, i did look at that list before but the nearest forcourt is in halifax, dont you know if any deliver in the yorkshire area, i could actually collect the drums meself or get some small drums and go to a supplier thats cheaper than the garages, as i say dunno any local 1 to 1 suppliers.

spevie

in fact RIX dont have a forcourt in West Yorkshire ???

Well I get my big green barrels from a guy in Bridgend.

You need to call a few of the suppliers on the BioPower list and see what they will do for you. It's a very small scale industry.
