need help with CAI!

Featured Replies

hi the kit is fairly straight forwords to fit as i had the same one on mine i can give u a rough guide

1. remove standard airbox and battery and battery tray this will give u acsess for the pipe to go down behind the headlight .

2. then remove the pannel underneath the bumper two times torx headed screws u can then attach the black rubber bush with the threads on each end this gose underneath where the battery tray was there should already be two small holes i used the hole closer to the gap where the alloy tube will sit.

3.once the support bush is in place u can put the alloy tube down into position to see if the mounts line up i had to bend the top mont slightly which attaches to the innerwing .

4. i then attached the alloy tube to the air flow sensor using the blue silicone sleeve and secured the two mounts.

5.now the tube is in place my system had a piece of long silicone hose which should slide onto a small offtake on the alloy tube.then it reaches across to the black plastic pipe which was attached to the original airbox you should have a connecting adaptor which came with the kit to join the two together. (some kits may just have a breather fillter)

6.next all you need to do is attach the fillter i changed my fillter fo a huge jetex one, once the fillter is conected replace the flap back onto the bumper.then put the battery tray back in place, then put the battery back on . check everything is tight and secure then go and listen to your loud diverter valve !.

Thanks very much for your help.

It was the long silicone hose that was confusing me, as I have the adapter you mentioned, and also the small breather filter. I take it then that if I connect the hose from the tube to the existing black plastic hose, then the small breather filter is not required?

Also did you have to remove the original fresh air ducting?

Thanks again,

Rob

yes remove the air duct as the alloy tube sits close to the inner wing and attaches to existing mount .your kit has the breather fillter as well but you dont need this as you have the silicon pipe kit. the kit is universal for different vag cars thats why it has both. i noticed on mine that on cold starts it can idle a bit rough this should clere after twenty seconds or so .this is common with cold air induction kits on these cars the direct cold air on a cold morning can cause it to over compensate and puts to much fuel through as i said it cleres quickly though .im now running std air box for the winter as i live in the sticks and everywhere is flooded.
