Car 6 months out of warantee, chance of skoda paying for flap motors?

Featured Replies

Well my fabia has the usual problem of Vent Flap motors packing up, a job which will cost a good

none I reckon ... sorry.

This is why I started getting all my faults sorted now as its almost up.

Chances are slim I think.

You could write to Skoda customer services - it can't do any harm to try. I wrote to Peugeot for an out-of-warranty claim a couple of years ago, and they offered a 25% discount on parts and labour.

Is it a design fault, or is it just fair wear and tear? :D Skoda only seem to think stuff in the car will last 3 years or the warranty would be longer ;)

If I was you, I'd approach my dealer and see if it can be done under warranty. You might find that they offer to meet you half way :D

It's worth trying to find out the reasonable life expectancy of the motors under normal use. I had a similar experience in a non motoring situation where the store manager told me that as the faulty item (a toilet cistern would you believe!) was outside the shop's 12 month warranty, then it was my tough luck and to get lost!

I then rang their Head Office Legal Dept and pointed out that under the Sale of Goods Act, the supplier was liable for a maximum of 6 years limited by the reasonable life expectancy of the item. Their solicitor was as nice as pie and agreed to pay for the faulty part and a proportion of the labour based on the time I had owned the toilet (18 months) set against the 6 year limit ie 75%

A Warranty is in addition to your legal rights

I recommend the DTI website for further info

I would always recommend trying to sort the problem without threatening legal action

Hope that helps

If you go down the 'sale of good act' then it's the place that you bought the car from the you need to go to (not the manufacturer).

For the sake of £200-£300 if I were you I'd just pay up. It simply won't be worth taking legal action for such a relatively small amount of money.

my car is under warranty, and needs new suspention arms, and skoda WON'T do it. I have to pay for it. they have stated to me in an e-mail to EXPECT your suspention to fail by 60k, and this is normal wear and tear (even though the warranty is unlimited miles for two years) so personally I wouldn't expect jack s*** even if it was under warranty , let alone out of it! 20 months old and new suspention arms... (or bushes if the dealer would attempt bushes, but he wont!)

I'm gonna keep complaining about this....

*rant over....

Indiana Jones says it quite well...

it's not the age, it's the mileage
Indiana Jones says it quite well...

If they were to have that attitude, it sholud be a 60k warranty (suzuki for example state this) not unlimited mileage for two years.... If my turbo goes at 80k, will they say this is wear and tear? if my engine goes at 100k , wear and tear? what will be left under this 'unlimited mileage' warranty? the doors?!? or will opening and closing them for two years be enough to warrant 'wear and tear'?! :thumbdwn:

*another rant over..... breathes again.

Hi

Skoda UK are quite good when it comes to relations like this

Have you had the car from new?

This will help

Has it a full service history?

Give them a try 0845 7745745 and ask , all it will cost is a phone call , and the worst they can say is no

I did warranty claims for a few years and I can say  for the after warranty service
