Difference in oil filter brands

Featured Replies

Do people go with Halfords or Skoda oil filters or are they all of a similar quality?

Cheers

halfords filters i have found are ok, but i would stick with skoda as they are not much more to buy and wont invalidate any warrenties should you have them.

dont think we even carry a filter for the fabia so will probably a ordered in mann or champion filter not a halfords own brand.

A lot of OEM Air/oil/fuel filters and even aftermarket ones are made by the same company.

Vag generally use Mann oil filters, Bosch fuel filters and Mann/Fram Air filters.

Either way a lot of aftermarket kit (Including 95% of Halfords filters) are made by Fram and these are among the best and will be a more than adequate replacement for your vehicle.

Champion (Another brand sold by Halfords) is also generally a fine replacement (I think made by AC Delco).

any oil filter is good enough. but to be honest, as allready stated, the genuine ones cost about the same anyway

Genuine filters usually have a non return valve inside to prevent all of the oil running back to the sump when the engine is switched off. Not all aftermarked filters have this.

My Octy vrs is due its service and even with me being in the trade its still cheaper to buy OE filters than Fram/Mann type.....the only item that was cheaper is the pollen filter
