Hi Everyone!...

Was wondering whether anyone came across the same problem I've experienced lately with my 02 Skoda Octavia vRS - essentially there seems to be some kind of knock noise whenever the steering is put on full lock - can't hear anything during normal driving, only when making tight turns with full lock on or reversing with full lock - just very annoying - unable to identify exactly where it's coming from but the knock appears whether on full left or right lock - dad's a mechanic and has had the front wheels off checked out the subframe / suspension - everything is tight and seems ok. No real feeling through the steering wheel when the knock happens so don't think it's steering-rack related.

Not a big problem since the car drives well but just DAMN annoying as I dunno what the hell it is and would like to get to the bottom of it without the need to be without my car for days on end at a dealer :(

Check for snapped coil spring. Can be high up in the suspension turret, so look carefully.

Thanks for that - will give it a try - should be up for its MOT in a couple of months so will have it checked out then.

I'd check it earlier if I were you. You don't want to break anything whilst going fast round a corner...

i would suggest check that the anti-roll bar isn't bent or twisted, and that the bushes are in good condition, my fabia ha exactly the same symtoms as your octy... it's becuase my anti-roll bar is slightly bent
