Final decisions on which N75 to buy?

Featured Replies

I have done a search before anyone asks.

Have had the car remapped, and was told that the slight surging of power that could be felt, when accelerating hard, would be rectified with a new N75 valve. I was shown where it is etc. There are a load of discussions on here about various types, and boost pressures etc. As I am looking to replace this, should I replace with an original for the car from Skoda, or should I be getting a different one from the VAG network. I have no idea about boost pressures etc:confused: , so just need to find a valve that will sort the surging and if it makes the car go even faster, then its a bonus.:D

Ask the remapper. They mentioned the problem and will have mapped your car for a particular N75 so will be the best placed to advise you.

Ok, so have been told to get the later version of the n75. I went past a vw dealer in slough to ask for a price on them, as thought they would be similar, if not the same as a skoda part. he looked at me blankly and said there is no such thing as an n75 valve. So which one is this, as can foresee the same thing happening at skoda, last time drove miles for a specific switch, gave full details, paid through the nose, and when got back, it was still the wrong one.

The dealers call it something else, weren't you in your car so you could just show them the part?

Who's the remapper and where abouts in the UK are you? If you're near a VAG specialist it may be better to just go to one of them for the replacement N75.

Alternatively you can buy one online from VAG Parts OE parts from the people who really know OE parts! it's part number 058906283F and can be found in VW/Golf Mk4/Engine/Standard N75 Valve.

Finally bought one. Will put it on at the same time as the Forge 007p I have managed to get.

Thanks

mate, who did your map? which one did you buy?

im in the process of getting my car mapped and having no end of problems getting the car to hold boost. iv swapped out the n75 and am putting on a forge 007p tonight (with the yellow spring). hoepfully this will fix my problem.

will be interested to hear more on this - e.g. your power curves, do you get inc/dec in the curves at all? mines spiking all over the place.

I haven't got the bits yet, hopefully should have at the beginning of next week. Angel did my remap, when accerlerating hard, it certainly goes, but it is almost as though there are flat spots in the power curve. i mentioned this at the time, and they said that it is the n75 valve that needs replacing. Will have to see what difference the new bits make.

They are mobile. They came out to my work place and did it. Certainly made a difference. Seemed to really know what they were talking about, with these engines. You can tell sometimes by trying to drop things in that you know are a little wrong, but a was corrected and pointed in the right direction.

sweet well keep us updated. did they say anything about running on the std recirc valve?

Vagparts.com came in useful here.

Quantity Name Item number Unit price Total price VAT

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 Standard N75 valve 058906283F 33.49 GBP 33.49 GBP 5.86 GBP (17.5%)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amount: 33.49 GBP

Shipping costs: 2.88 GBP

plus VAT (17.5 %): 6.36 GBP

Total amount: 42.73 GBP

That's a good price from Vagparts. :)

i want to know wether this works ive got an identical situation going on here and would like to fix it at some point, ive been told it could be the n75 but its hard to come across people who've done it and posted results.

DV seems to have gone missing in the post.....Hoping it turns up tomorrow otherwise once again someone in the Royal Mail is making use of may hard earned cash.

Anyway back to the point of this thread. Didn't take too long to change, have to make sure you have some jubilee clips to hand.

Was it worth it, did it work? YES IT WAS. No more surging, smooth power delivery.

Just have to sit and think now, for the cost and effort involved why the F didn't I do it months go.

that's interesting. we replaced my n75 and there was a slight improvement but nothing major.

i have the power graphs for when we replaced the n75 and when i replaced the recirc valve and neither fixed it.

in the end we fitted a bleed vavle to the wategate pipe to regulate the pressure a bit. this fixed it.

all i have left to do now is fit a boost gauge to monitor everything.

car is running happily at 210bhp with 225lbs tourque. much better :)

i am a bit worried on one point - the tuners repeatedly mentioned that they were experiencing similiar issues with other vag cars. is this an indication that their map is the issue or is it just a common issue?

Sounds like an issue with the map to me. There should be no need to fit a bleed valve which also now means you're running less boost than it's been mapped for.
