was just leaving work on wednesday night when the thottel cable broke. it's the little hook that connects it to the pedal thats snapped.

so, spent all day today trying to get a new one. phoned the local stealer, he said "can get one for monday" (:finger: i sort of need a car at the weekend) so i phoned around the local car parts places. they all said, "no chance, its not evan in our book" . haw the hell do i get hold of one?

have managed to steel the works $hitty old pick-up, but trying to steal that over the weekend might be a dit hard. (got a boss like mr burns:finger: )

as you can probuly tell i am well pi$$ed of. :thumbdwn:

Get a bike cable and bodge it with solderless nipples?

ha. was thinking of that, but the car is in the car park at work and i have had no daylight time to fettal something up.

i don't like replacing a weak conponent with another weak one, so making a custom, modified one would be my profered option. but these things never happen at just the right time do they. just need one to tye me over.

it's a right pig of a job to change it too! you have to be a gymnast to be able to contort yourself into the drivers footwell!! good luck!

Where do you live ? If you are north then try my old work place,Parkside garage in Bolton, they are an old dealer that when i worked there held older spares including Felicia throttle cables on the shelf....unlike the newer glass palaces !

The cable would have broken at the the hook at the pedal. The AA usually do a temporary repair by crimping another hook on. You could make a hook out of a wire coat hanger and attach it to the cable with an electrical connector, the type that is a plastic encapsulated metal sleeve with two screws in the top. Then order the correct cable from a dealer to fit at a later date.

well. hears the up date.

i have my girl (the car that is) back at home, safe and sound. and working fine.

i spent most of the day on the phone to my local dealer, and got presisely nowere. the guy in the parts department sounded like he had never heard of a felicia, let alone seen one.

he asked "what felicia was it?"

so i told him. "1998 1.6 hatch, in pink if you must know".

to whitch he replied. "do you know whitch length cabel it is?, the computers given me 6 differant lengths"

i said, "well you tell me, your the dealer"

he said, "well you'll have to take the cable out and measure it"

now, i have allready explaned to him that to take the cable out, i would have to cut it, thus destroying any chance i have of fixing it up as an interim mesure

so he continues, "well, you'll have to bring it in"

so i skreem down the phone at him, "i cant ducking move the ducking car as the ducking cable is broke!!!!!!!! (me running out of time at this point)

so i gave up on the pi$$ing dealed, and went about it my self. i made a small bracket about 20mm long, and 15mm wide out of 6mm stainless. with a tapped hole on one end, to hold the m4 pin i pit through the pedal eye. and two m3 tapped holes in the other end so i could clamp the remander of the pi$$ing link with another littel plate.

with a little tinkering and fettling its actualy better than the origenal link.

edd and his pink skud 1

thanks for all your advice.

Where do you live ?

bedfordshire. thanks anyway

Tell the numpty that the part he is looking for is for a 1.6 mpi and right hand drive ! That will sort out the 1.3,1.3mpi ,1.9d and all the left hand drive cables ! Blimey, better get back behind a Skud counter to help all us poor souls who need older stuff still, they are not rocket science unlike all this new fangled stuff.Pity i'm busy tomorrow sorting out family things because i am down in Luton, who is your dealer ?

p.s. better not use numpty !

progres skoda in bedford. and yes, numpty!

Throttle cables are always a pain to get right. Which one do you want?

6U0721555C RHD 1.6 1133mm no year given

6U2721555D RHD 1.6 1270mm with A/C 01/98 on

6U0721555A RHD 1.6 783mm no year given

All could be for your car, the only real way to tell is by length.

I should think that you would want 6U2721555d , length 1270mm for a RHD 1.6 from 01/98 with air conditioning.

Forgot to add when it says with air conditioning they missed the bit off the parts system that says that this means with air conditioning and/or power steering.

  • Author

it has power steering, but no air con. ???

Never had a problem sorting cables out myself, never got a complaint ! It seems all dealers are interested in are new Skuds and have no knowledge of anything felicia and earlier ! I even used to get calls off Skoda retailer support when i worked at a dealer asking for info on Fav's and rear engined stuff ! Did you get sorted in the end ? hope it was better than my wasted trip to scabby Luton....bloody family eh !

Oh to add to the answer you will need 6u2721555d,just looked on Butts on-line catalogue ! Not got the joy of EKTA anymore

sorry to drag up an old thread. but the dam thing has gone againe. the little alu hook has snapped of abit further along. so, took out the clamp plate i made. and bent the remainder of the alu link, into a hook. then with a chain of cable/zip ties. conected it to the pedal.

now, what i realy need is a new alu hook, so i can make an exact replica out of stainless steel. can i buy just the alu hook? or does it come loose as part of the cable???

and of it does. are all the hooks the same??? if so it dosent matter whitch cable i get, cuz its just the hook i'm after, not the cable.

thanks for any help
