general vibration when hitting 60-70

Featured Replies

Hi all, just your views but i get a reasonable amount of vibration in the car ( not the steering wheel ) when i hit 60-70 after that its ok, now i had 2 tyres replaced on the front and they was balanced correctly by the propper spinning checker that was digital........any ideas has to what could be this, shocks, springs, bushes ????

Not real problem but after driving newer cars for a few weeks it feels like a wrecker ??????

Just need some pointers to check stuff out...... Tyre pressures, tyre wear seem ok.

OH and regarding my previous post about flashing dash lights ( ind, battery and <1> on rev counter) still doeas it but the more i drive the less it does it, could be summat to do with battery, might get a new one this weekend and see, i did bypass the alarm ( serpico ND5 ) and still did it......did notice that on the flat it was ok, whent down hill it did it a few times and 3 beeps.

it's a kind of two piece plasticy rubbery bit that bolts around the driveshaft, i've lost the vibration damper off my 2.0 fabia twice now.... probably because i cant be arsed to tighten the bolts to the correct torque

If you've just had 2 new front tyres then my money would be on the balancing being out. Balancing seems to be a fine art that very few tyre places can do well (even if they have the digital spinny thing ;)). You can try moving the wheels front to back and see if the vibration still happens, or even switch each of the front wheels for the spare (assuming that is properly balanced) and see if it stops........

If it is a badly balanced wheel you would feel it through

the steering wheel.

Most of feeling of vibration is in the car so 2 speak, not direct through s-wheel.

bit like going over fine bumpy road, not humpty dumpty vibration, when sat idling its not there just when ya get to high speeds.........yes i know its SDI...hahaha

will do some checking over the weekend, give it a good inspection.....

Could be a defective damper?

Does this only happen in 6th? And is your car re-mapped? If its yes to both of those questions, and it's not the steering wheel, the vibration may be from the Dual Mass Flywheel. As it was in my Fabia.

my SDI 1.9 fabia doesnt have 6 gears but i know from service history it had a new clutch about 18mth ago, i might ring the garage and ask what sort of clutch was fitted just for info.

when you drive a newer car its smooth but drive mine its not smooth, you can feel the road whilst sat in the seat ???? unless its me and the fabia classic doesnt have good suspension damping.....on a 2001 model, suppose i could blag a drive of some one elses 2001 fabia sdi 1.9 classic to compare ????? any offers in the west yorkshire area.
