Trouble with mesh.. Grr.

Featured Replies

Hey guys, been fiddling with thay car this morning and relised taking out the grill for a long period of time isnt the best idea in the world..! anyway, did a quick bodge job of putting the mesh grill on using cable tie (really bad i tell you). However i couldnt think of a better way of securing the mesh on the bottom of the bumper. As it has litterly nowhere to start mounting the mesh im a bit stuck at the moment. I dont particularly want to cut out the original bottom grill and put mesh over as this seems more effort than its worth. Any ideas would be great.!

Before anyone starts ranting how pants it looks, its each to their own, if you dont like dont comment. Thanks :)

Oh de...

grille looks OK. Needs to be a bit wider at the bottom. ;) Or, where are the two blanking off panels for down there?

that looks alright, but as jason has said, it's a shame it isn't wider.....

is there nowhere you can put self tapping screws into the plastic surround to secure it in place??

also bear in mind you can get proper badges that will fit onto that type of grille, one's like '16v' and 'tdi' etc..... from the dealership

I spray'd the 2 blanking panels to the same colour, was planning to put some fog lights in the inner ones, made the hole, but wasnt big enough..! doh.. now im trying to source something which will cut 80mm holes..without spending £10+ at B&Q for ONE hole cutter.

TeflonTom - I dont think i can put screws on the front part as it'll probably be really noticable. What do you mean badges? Do you think they'll have a small fabia badge? :D

Thanks for replies :)

look alright from here ,cant see anythin too bad but its your motor you will prob notice errors more as you know where to look. Ps did you do the grill yourself if so how easy was it

Thanks, and good point :). Putting the mesh is very easy. There was a link to remove the plastic grill's on the forums somewhere.. After that I used the screws which screw on the plastic grill to secure the grill mesh if you get what i mean (the 8 hex screws)? 2 small cable ties behind the badge to secure it a little more, and make a subtle hole for the bonnet lift lever BEFORE you put everything back! (lol i nearly forgot to do that). good thing was I brought big bit of mesh for £3 posted on flea bay... :D

ones like these, there are loads of different types, althought i dont ever remember seeing one that says 'fabia';)
