VAG-COM help & advice needed

Hullo

I imagine that the below could be a bit controversial but all I really want to know if anyone can help me with an ECU related dilemma (ok, not a dilemma, more of a desire)

Assuming my two ECUs are the same part number / model, I want to know how / if VAG-COM could be used to get the immobiliser codes from my current ECU and my old ECU and get both codes on both ECUs...?

You can probably see where I'm going with this. I'd like the option of using my basic ECU for commuting and stuff when good mpg is more important, and then the Jabba'd ECU for playtime (such as April 24th) when mpg can just be dis-regarded... :D

So, could VAG-COM achieve the desired results because basically my dealer and Jabba can do nothing with regards to this. Jabba have been very helpful by saying they'll upload my old codes to the new ECU, but this defies the object of economy / performance options. I'll then have a Jabba'd chip in my current car, and a standard one in the wreck (which won't work in the current machine... :()

So, HELP (please)

Anyone who helps will be on the promise of copious drinks on/around April 24th.

there is no certan way of getting the immob codes form the ecu's. what happens is the dealer takes the immob number then sends it to skoda where they get the codes and reply back to the dealer. if you had the immob codes then you could use VAG-COM to program the ecu to the immob (car) in all honesty i think you only have to program one ecu because the ecu already on your car can be removed and refitted without recoding.

the code you require should be supplied when you brought the car on a clear tag. a five digit number starting with 0.

I have the clear tag for my current car as you say, and it does have a five digit number starting with a 0. So, as I don't want to change my current ECU I can leave it well alone. But, would someone with VAG-COM be able to use this five digit number and program it into my Jabba'd ECU? That's the only thing I reckon needs doing, but having had no experience of VAG-COM at all, to say I'm a bit clueless would be an understatement... :D

yes they can use that 5 digit code to adapt the ecu to the immob. they can allso check all coding to make sure that it is exact to the car as the current ecu. that way shouldnt get no fault codes appaer.

if you not had it done by trackday i will gladly do it for you

Cheers Ade - I may very well do that, but I'm willing to travel to meet a VAG-COM expert to get this done much sooner than April 24th... Is there anyone who can wield a mean VAG-COM around the Midlands area on the weekend of 29th Feb / 1st March? I could be up there then...

You have PM in a minute or two. :D

Did you get your ECU programmed I'm interested on how you got on and whether it was successful or did you need to obtain any dealer codes for logging-in or was it possible without dealer participation.

Yep - I definitely did, and providing you have both sets of immobiliser codes for the car being programmed from and to, everything is (and was :D) hunky dorey. I'm now running around in my new Fabia using the old Jabba'd ECU. :D

(and it took very little work by Ade to get the missing immobiliser code for the crashed Fabia, using the information from my purchase receipt)

edited to say my dealer treated me like a piece of **** on his shoe once I mentioned the words "ECU" "chipped" and "reprogramming"... Why the hell don't some of them live a little!
