Fog lamp replacement

Featured Replies

Have managed to get a crack this morning in the drivers side fog lamp glass  ... is this something that can be bought as an individual item ? If so does anyone know how much / part number etc ?? Plus is it something that you can fit yourself ... mine is an 06 vRS, and you must be able to get to the bulb somehow (I would have thought) so can you swap the glass ?

1) Yes you can buy lights individually

2) No you cannot buy the lamp glass alone

3) Yes you can fit it yourself. Earlier cars need bumper off to access fixing screws which on later cars are accessible from the front simply by removing the air intake surround.

4) Do a search - there's info on here about how to remove front bumper if needed - though on an '06 you're probably OK.

Blimey .... a quick repsonse ! Cheers .... when I had a quick look I think thgere is a screw I can see just behind the black surround ... how does this come out then ? And any ideas on the cost of a new lamp then ? A part number would be useful if anyone has one ? I don't want the wron fog lamp to be ordered !!

Check ebay for fabia vrs and Lupo foglamps. They can be had for around

Folks,

sorry for asking again, just had a look at front bumper and no obvious way or removing surround as blak section seems to include centre body coloured surround that circles the lamp too ? Checked the hand book and no mention in there either of removal of fog lamps .... can this definitely be done on an 06 vRS

Hey - I had the same problem...06 fabia got the new fog light today

- Its all one Piece and cost £53.00 from dealership :o

- Left hand side fog light code = 6H0 941 699 A

As to fitting I think its either the bumper or if u go behind the wheel arch.. should be easy to reach - going to try mine today, Hope this helps - Cheers Rob

Just order part quoted £45.83 (presume that includes VAT) ... asked the mechanic and he reckons if I pull out the front that may be possible from there ... let me know how you get on ...... mine is drivers side ...

Skoda fitted mine... big mistake!

Over £70 for removing the bumper and fitting a supplied fog!

DIY next time thanks.

Yes been told £70 an hour labour charges .... just need to know if you can get to the screw to pull out fog lamp ???

wasnt to bad on mine 2001 fabia, next to the fog lights was some plastic grills which just popped out and could get to the screw easily.....

Newer cars now i think are made so that you have to take them to a dealer, cunning plan me lord.........

Here's a guide to removing the front bumper:

If you have a later model with the front access lamp screws, you can just pull off the 'air intake' surround around the lamp. Yes it's really that easy.

checked mine out tonight ... pulled off the 'air intake' (about 30sec job ... easy as this is where the towing eye fits inside !!!) but looks like the lamp is screwed in from above on left side (as you look at the front) ... and the back is hinged to open other way. There is a small torx screw on right side as you look at the housing .. looks like this moves the lens inside housing ?? might be mistaken .....

Mine is only 6 months old ..... so should it not have the front access screw lamps mentioned above ?? Only doesn;t seem like it has ... do you have a pic ???

Hmmm. I'm wondering if the 'front access' lamps are those fitted to the facelift Fabia (non-vRS model). Looks like it's a bumper-off job whatever the age your car...

If you remove the headlight it can be done without taking the bumper off. It's still a tight squeeze and a bit of a pain but i watched my mechanic do it to my 04 VRS

Decided to go a different route .... keeping the cracked lamp and ordered some 3M Paint Protective Paint Cover from Armourfend. Cost £18 ... and hopefully will do the job to protect both lens. Have to cut the shape myself but only a circle after all .....

Anyone else used this stuff ? Reckon it should be very easy to fit just on the lamp ...

you got any pictures?? I think at that price I may have to buy some...

Only just ordered will take a day or two to arrive sheet 1ft x 2ft so plenty left ... no pics but details on the armourfend website
