Laurin & Klement discontinued

Featured Replies

Discovered with horror today that the L & K has been discontinued....

Apparently Skoda want us in Blighty to have a more European spec. As far as I can make out, the "new" L & K (or whatever its called) will come with the same spec as the "old" L & K but will now have 17" wheels (don't know what sort or about the spare), Xenons, leather (with powered adjustment to BOTH sides), the Audience noise with in-dash 6 CD player, curtain airbags and ESP. The leather is either tan or onyx with alcantara (shades of the Mk 1 L & K) and there's some sort of rear sunblind (?).

For this you'll be asked for an extra

That sounds pretty good value considering the increase in spec....

Steve

Pretty close to the truth.

The leather in the new factory specced L & K will be light grey - the same as the Superb 100 Edition. Onyx Alcantara is a no cost option.

Wheels are an 'anthracite' type finish - probably similar to the A4 L & K colour.

The 'current' UK spec L & K can still be ordered but will be known as an Elegance with a luxury pack. Prices remain unchanged for this spec of car.

So cars badged L&K will be no more? Makes mine rare then! Wonder if it'll increase it's value ;)

Isn't that how they were ordered anyway? Elegance plus bolt on item numbers to bring it up to L&K spec?

Newer spec seems much higher than the original as it includes 17" Wheels, Xenons, electric passenger seat, light assist, curtain airbags, ESP, Chrome Exhaust, L&K Mats, Audience, Rear Sunscreen. Mist of which I had to choose as options when I spec'd mine. Price has increased by nearly 1k but with these options added mine stacked up to much more than that. Makes it a great value fully loaded car!

Woo Audience is back :D

Shame I can't afford a new one, but it sounds really nice. :)

Hmmm..........Ordered an L&K 2 weeks ago, and didn't know about the change. I think I'll go see the dealer tonight.

Anybody found any images of the onyx alacantra, cos the grey leather looks drab? Ideally, I'd like the new L&K, with the cream leather!!

Should definately be the New L&K as they are now past build week 4. Might effect the price though.....

@storm monkey - Check out the following URL for some examples of the interior colours:

@storm monkey - I've just clarified the whole leather/alcantara issue with my local dealer. There are 3 choices of upholstery for the new L+K:

- Light leather

- Onyx leather

- Onyx leather with alcantara inserts

Both onyx choices are no charge items, which you specify at time of ordering.

By default, the car will be built with the light leather (yuck :sour:).

Anyone seen the Sputnik alloys? The Pegasus ones look miles better.

This isn't on the car but I agree with you on that one.

I notice that sports suspension is not mentioned as an option, does anyone know if this is already included along with the 17" wheels.

What deposit did you put down on the L&K as I think you should be able to cancel the order and loose the deposit then reorder one to the new spec.

If your deposit is only small, say £200 then that would be a pretty good thing to do IMHO

Unfortunately the deposit is quite sizable (

Unfortunately the deposit is quite sizable (£1000). I thought I'd be clever and put a big deposit on my card, to get more cash back......................bugger!:rotz:

I'm going to talk to the dealer again this afternoon, once he has spoken to Skoda UK, and see what they can do for me.

I'll keep you all posted.

Phil

Good luck! Surprised they took that much on card as they usually limit to £500 due to the associated charges in taking them

With the options you have specified surely that would be a factory built anyway?

Hopefully that would mean a post WK4 car and you could sort something.

Even for 1k I'd be tempted to come to an arrangement with the dealer such as you keep the deposit and give me £750 off an order for a new one, they make an extra £250 you get your car.

@storm monkey - If you paid the deposit on your card, can't you just ask the credit card company to perform a chargeback? I know this usually applies when you don't receive goods you've paid for, but it might be worth a shot. That way, you could get your deposit back, cancel the order, and place it again at a different dealer.

I'm pretty sure that all the old spec. L+Ks have already entered the UK dealer network, and that no more of these cars are being built at the factory. The UK L+K was an anomaly anyway, as it had far lower spec. than anywhere else in Europe.

If I was in your shoes, I'd put as much pressure as I could on the dealer to sort this out.

Called the dealer again and unfortunately just missed him, so don't have an answer yet.....................however............Ispoke to another sales man there who has confirmed that my car will be built in week 8, but is still spec'd as cream leather. Now I am really confused! Only thing I can think of is that the leather colour code for cream has been carried on for grey, as the colour name is not detailed, just a 2 letter code. Doesn't seem likely though. Rest assured, I will do whatever I can to get the new spec level.

Though, if anyone can 100% clarify the week 4/cream interior thing, that would really help!

Phil

D'ont know if this was dealer bs or what but when i was ordering the furb i was told Skodas order system only ordered the basic car rite until the build date and only then were any options added? So this should in theory allow changes up untill the moment the car was being built.:o

This isn't on the car but I agree with you on that one.

Hopefully there will be some shots of the new L&K with said Sputniks on it so we can see them properly, maybe Skoda are aiming more for the luxury look with those wheels. Pegasus wheels are more sports orientated.

It'll take some convincing unless they are reminiscent of the Mk.1 L&K wheels.

I'll just have a set of B14's thank you very much :D

On the main Skoda Autp page, there is a specific brochure for the L+K. The following piccy comes from that brochure:

Personally, I think they look very nice. I even like the Anthracite Grey colour.
