New mobile phone choices......

Featured Replies

Why good morning everyone.

Long time, no post.

However! I have a question.....

Me mobiles due for an upgrade, so looking at o2's website I've narrowed it down to the following:

Nokia N73 - is it true this crashes 24/7 after a months ownership?

Sony Ericsson K800i - looks sexy, nice camera, is everything else ok?

Nokia E50 - I like the mobile office idea, I could not live without my mobile calender and it could come in handy for me business.

Nokia 6233 - I dunno, just looks nice.

What's your thoughts?

Had a K800i - nice but not for me. Bit too big for a phone, great camera though

Ended up with a D900 - much nicer imo. Same Megapixel on camera, only downside is lack of ability to change message tone.

May also be worth considering which ones can run TomTom mobile satnav ;)

Have you thought about a windows based mobile. Very good as a mobile office, supports sat nav software, all outlook compatible with contacts and calendar.

Only negative is the size of them.

o2 have a coouple on offer:

O2 Xda Orbit

O2 Xda Mini S

Bloke at work has the big nokia N something or other....the foldy flip nonsense. It's built like a brick, weighs as much as one and has started randomly crashing/restarting.

K800i - currently used by someone else in the office - looks nice, slim, fairly light, decent camera. Useless inclusion of a proprietary memory card format, so be prepared to have your pants pulled down over the price of expanding it. Increasingly though, I don't like these phones that try to do everything.

No idea of the other Nokia's.

D900 here myself. Super-slim, good voice quality. Nice, clear, crisp screen. Camera bit is fairly useless, but I only use it for calls/texts,. The slim/lightness of the D900 wins everytime because I don't want it looking like I've evacuated my bowels - which the big nokia brick-u-like does.

Mobile guide - Mobiles & Tariffs - O2

I have the K800i, very nice phone with excellent camera but the joystick has a mind of its own and really is a pita. It seems to be a common problem with SE phones, shame really because it has so many good points and its all ruined with that awful joystick:thumbdwn:

The SE phones.. the K750 and K800 are very good, but theres loads of reports about the joystick thing going funny after a couple of months...

The 6233 will be a good solid-reliable phone... maybe not as many features as the N-series models, but its smaller and more robust

Nokia have a fix for the crashing N series now

touch screen, 4gb of memory mmmmmmmmmm

I've got a 6233, and it's pretty, I'll admit.

The most annoying feature is the short backlight timer, that can't be adjusted. The battery life's a bit shorter than the old 6021 that I had before, but you gain a lot of stuff -camera, music player etc -to make up for it. Being a series 40 phone, the menus and stuff are a bit different to classic Nokia, too......

No camera though!

Yeah samsungs cameras seem to be sh!t across the range.

Sharp GX's used to have wicked cameras but then all the other phones got blue tooth, they didn't and they never brought another one out to compete. Pitty because at the time they were quality phones and never had any problems.

EDIT

I stand corrected: SHARP Mobile Phones

deffo go for the K800i

w950i

go out and buy a camera for taking photo's, the quality on the k800 isnt bad but i wouldnt be replacing your camera with a camera-phone just yet!

Thanks for the suggestions, I've got the Nokia E50 now, cracking phone, not a brick, quite sexy and makes phonecalls too.

walkie you have too much cash, i just seen your tft thread too ;)

My N73 is what 2 months old and hasn't crashed on me as yet. If it does it will be plugged into the PC for a firmware update.

**** O2 - I've been with them 9 years and I'm leaving.

TMobile offer better phones, better tarrifs and better service. Check out their FlexT packages and you'll not give o2 another thought.
