I am thinking in buying a Skoda -First car:) I just wanted to know how good is the official website?reliable? etc or if there is any other website's for newbies like me.

what information are you trying to get from their site?

If its info about used cars for sale then its OK, but you're as well going into your local dealer to ask about their stock as it can change so quickly...

Thanks for the reply.After spending some time in cz I realised that they might have a point about skoda I just want to find out how good are skoda brochures? finance deals website etc.

I am completly new to cars but my girlfriend keeps saying that skoda are very reliable and have good engine etc etc.The reason I am thinking about Skoda is that there are some tax benefits in buying a Skoda in CZ (she is cz). I just dont want to see a dealer without doing my research.And I reading some threads here and I was thinking in looking at their website.

yep have a look at their website then. You may find that this site is more helpful when looking at reliability issues and common faults.

I think everyone will agree that there are a few common faults on the cars but all manufacturers have problems with certain parts on cars. As for reliability, my Fabia has just done 105,000 miles with no real problems (although my drivers seat does squeak). I even had it remapped at 100,000 (to celebrate;)) and its running very well.

Which model are you thinking of getting??? and any idea what engine (diesel or petrol)?

I was thinking Fabia vRS 1.9 TDI.My girlfriend also likes that model.

I noticed that this site is more for ppl that are into skoda.I am not at that stage yet I was quite surprise they didnt have a owners section like this where we can talk to ppl that have skoda, models and general stuff.

There are a couple of CZ owners clubs as well and we have a couple of helpful CZ members on here.

Some of us took the trip over last year and another is planned later this year.

As for hints tips and good information - I think you've found it.

Stick around here , you'll find most of what you are looking for on this site! Everybody on here was a 'newbie' at one time or another , and quite a number werent 'into' Skodas when they bought their cars!!
