Featured Replies

Well, today i spent 6hrs messing with the fabia to find out why the indicator, battery and <1> lights flash on there own.....checked every wire in loom that i could see, checked all fluid levels ( even power steering fluid, yes battery holder out) now i found summat wiered, if i open either front door then the <1> and indicator lights on dash flash quickly 5 times, same when i shut door.....i opened the drivers door and flashes happened, so i closed the door lock latch manually with door open ( the bit on side of door that hits the door piller ) and it did the flashing again, now i am wondering if its summat to do with the interior light wiring..........

Also i found that when i start the car and let it tick over it still flashes constantly, if i rev the car to less than 1800-2000k it still flashes but if i rev it to over that it starts to beep as well as flash, turn engine of, backon just flashing, start car and rev it over 2000k it beeps, does this every time..........

its hard to explain but as a test i pulled key out of ignition, turned lights on and it started flashing again......i presume there is a leccy fault some where but WTF, this is really strange.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the Fabia 2001 1.9sdi classic. could do with looking at what is linked to the door locks for starters.......

Wild guess ....... faulty conveniance unit ??

whats a convenience unit, is this in the door.

Just been out to play again, open passanger door, indicator lights and the <1> flash, no beep, interior light is on, if i get a screwdriver and push the locking mechanism on the door to lock position, it flashes, if i then pull the handle as if i am opening the door it flashes again......spooky....this car has NO central locking or power windows so how does the door know when its open tolight the interior light, where is the switch that does this ??????

That blows my theory out the window then !

Conveniance unit looks after central locking, power windows etc so it's not that then !

Is there an alarm fitted ??...beeps and indicator flashes linked to door locks etc could indicate a fault there maybe ???

Pretty baffling though !

EDIT: just looked in the Haynes manual and according to that the courtesy light switch is integrated in the door lock ....hmmmmm, possible suspect there then ?

Suppose thats a door stripping down session then, if i can undo the connection and see if it still does it, thing is i removed the block connector from the alarm and still did it, went through the alarm settings and set back to factory settings....

strnage thing is that last week on me way to work it stopped, went over some bumps in road and it did a couple of flashes and odd beep then stopped.

today i jacked up the offside front so i could remove the under tray to do an oil change, checked the sterring angle sensor ( removed cleaned put back)

then when i removed the jack n filled with oil i restarted the car and no flashes or beeps, untill i started opening n closing the doors.......

i suppose no one has had problems with the intergrated internal light switch in the doors ????, what really baffles me is why the <1> flashes as well seeing as it should only work when tow bar fitted or towing lights connector.

cheers, spevie
