What cars to test drive?

Featured Replies

On my list are the 'new' MX-5, Clio 197 and new TT. Would quite like to see how a 130i M-Sport performs as well.

The car I would love to have, and could have it.... would be a Smart Brabus Roadster Coupe..... Its amazing!!!

 Cheeky barsteward!

Quite wrong actually Mr Skodas are for peasents.

The GT Golf was good, engine can't say enough good things, but it had no more kit than my Fabia other than some leathery bits on the seats. It was not hugely better handelling and not much more roomy. Can't see why anyone would buy the Golf PD140 for instance over an Octavia.

new tt  with dsg

HTH,

Or they don't want such a big car, or they like blue dials, or they want better residuals, etc, etc ;)

LMAO

I was being 100% Genuine, I got dropped home in one yesterday, and it was such a buzz, the power to weigh ratio and the way the back stepped out on roundabouts was fantastic. I am really considering one.

Don't think the residuals are that much better really, not when compared with the extra you have to shell out.

The red dials are horrid anyway, much prefer the blue.

Test drive the new TT for me, I can't do it because my local VW garage know us too well

Which red dials? On the Golf?

I've done about 2k in mine now and really enjoying it  Went to a Cat & Fiddle meet too and the owners are all really friendly (not as friendly as Briskodians of course!) too. The roads in the peak district really suit the car too :D Gotta watch the tail end in this weather though

I've wanted one for well over 2 years and eventually just bit the bullet. Despite a couple of niggles (that will be fixed under warranty), and the fact that there's NO storage space in the cabin at all (I literally struggled finding somewhere for my gym parking ticket!) I'm really enjoying the car and they're surprisingly bearable on the m-way too.

If you go for the coupe you've got enough storage for a mid-sized suitcase in the back and a couple of soft bags in the front.

Do it, you won't regret it!

I think you've misunderstood what residuals actually are.

An Audi R8 will cost you an absoloute fortune but the residuals will be great because it's going to be worth pretty much the same in 12 months time.

Its all about the cost of ownership from when you buy to when you sell.

Residual value is the %age of purchase price retained. So for a £5k Kia worth 2K the retained value is 40% but the actual loss is £3K.

In the case of a Boxster S (made up numbers for sake of example) the car might be £30k, lose £5K but retain 83% of it's value.

In the second example you've lost £2000 more but the residuals are better. See?

I'd like to test drive an Astra VXR, went before but they did not have one available, so they said!

Worth holding out for - much more fun than the Focus ST
