What cars to test drive?

Featured Replies

First things first... Not planning to sell the fabia.

Found myself with some time on my hands this week, so I was planning to do some tyre kicking and test drive some cars.

Any thoughts on what I should 'expand my drving horizons' and have a go in?

Don't do it!!!!!!!!

I have deliberately kept away from test driving cars to kill time. Reason: I used to do this, but you run the risk of falling in love with a car, and then having to buy it!

Thats how I ended up with the Octy

Fiat Panda 100bhp or the Suzuki Swift Sport??

I want SWMBO to get one so it would be good to have a lady's opinion on them...;)

Clio 197

A remapped Fabia vRS :D :D :D

porcshe??

Audi R8 :rofl::rofl:

If it were me:

New CTR, Clio 197, Smart Roadster ;) , Panda 100  , Astra VXR (again - great fun) and anything else you fancy!

porcshe??

Just not if it's going to snow!

How about a Golf in a fancy frock?:P

Dress up in a smart outfit, and see if you can blagg rides at Mercedes, Porsche, Jaguar type places.

Emily, go along pretending ;) to be some stupid bimbo - obviously its daddy's money that you'll be spending.

Drive some decent handling, rear wheel drive cars.

Mazda RX8 or Nissan 350Z would be a good start and should be easy to blag (easier than a Porker)

Failing that go for an MX5 or MR2 - see what a propperly sorted, fun car is like to drive.

Dont bother with hatchbacks - you need to drive a car that will open your eyes a little (not that I'm saying you're blinkered at all.. well, maybe a little ;) )

Just don't take Princess with you.

Back!! :D

Went to the VW garage and said 'I want something faster than what i have got at the moment' Ended up having a sit down, talking about my needs etc. Test drove this 1.4 GT Golf 170bhp. It was really good!! I absolustly ragged it, got 25mpg (not bad). The engine is not as torquey as the fabia, but it does last for longer if you know what I mean. There was the little boost gauage that was cute, but a bit pointless as when I drove it it was always in the red.

They only valued my Fabia as £5000 part exchange, and have agreed a deal that works out at £250 a month, 42 month pcp finance against the ex demo.

They wouldn't tell me the APR as non of them could remember, I also had to wait 10 minutes for them to find the keys.

Insurance group 16, which is a bit high really.

Not going to take it, still in love with the fabia really - but a very good engine. Anyone know if they plan to stick it in a Skoda?

Failing that go for an MX5

That is the plan for tomorrow :D

Don't think I could deal with another dealership, had to spend the morning lieing through my teeth about wanting a new car.

Not sure about prestige cars, I don't dress up very well.

Any more suggestions?

How about driving an Octy vRS? You'll probably get a slightly better P/ex for your Fabia too.

The 3 local dealers know me too well.

Emily, that Golf has a supercharger and a turbo ;)

Go for the MX5 and/or MR2. Make sure you throw it into corners.

Personally I found the latest shape MX5 a little soft on turn-in but having said that, I only drove it in 2nd gear round a go-kart track

Yeah, drive something RWD and drive it really hard - brilliant fun and you'll soon wake up if it's cold and damp

The car I would love to have, and could have it.... would be a Smart Brabus Roadster Coupe..... Its amazing!!!

Any Alfa dealers near by?

VX220 turbo :D:D:D

If you want to drive an interesting car, pop down to your local Land Rover dealer and take a drive out in a Defender

Chris

new cooper s?

And to do it properly you have to drive with the drivers window down

Td5 is a great engine.

try a Grande Punto sporting ( the 130bhp diesel ), then you can tell me what its like :D
