Chipping a Fabia vRS?

Featured Replies

I'm considering a Fabia vRS at the moment (Currently a Mini Cooper owner). I've seen some impressive figures for the chipped TD130 engines. Has anyone had their vRS chipped? Was the performance increase noticeable? Any idea on 0-62s etc from a chipped vRS?

Do you need to inform your insurance company? And how much are they likely to load the premium?

Lastly, and most importantly, is chipping going to break the car? Can the gearbox handle all that extra torque? And is it going to invalidate ones warranty?

How come these engines aren't tuned to this level from the factory, anyway?

Heya were allways happy to help out, but if you search the forum most of these answers have been aswered... but here goes

1 - Yeah there are a few chipped vRS's about, talking mid 15 qtr mile time's however no real 0-60 times (but that REALLY isnt what the Furby vRS is about), it's all about through the gears drivability

2 - Need to inform insurance, if with L&V then no problems, others vary, ask your current insurer

3 - Nobody's broken one yet ;), also the PD130/150 has been chipped for a while now in various other VAG cars and no majour complaints yet (besides increased tire usage, but hey at least it's fun ;))

4 - Skoda quote 130BHP but almost all the standard Furby's that have been rolling roaded are about 140, so there quite well tuned in standard form, but there's allways room for improvement.

Just so you know, mine isnt chipped (yet) but people who have got them done say they wont go back.

Thanks for the reply. I did try searching on 'chip' and 'chipping' but just seemed to get Octavia RS threads! :)

Yeah can be a bit of a minefield, also have a look in the jabba / AMD threads

Check out the AmD tuning section, have a look at 'One Click.'

Both Jabba and AmD are putting out similar specs.

Mine might well be getting a hybrid turbo in the next couple of weeks if im lucky.

Then its onto 200 bhp :)

Im getting the turbo from work (AmD) :)

Chipped outputs are usually around the 175-185bhp mark and the 0-60 time drops to 7.8 seconds as Ade has already said.
