ARB problem - can anyone help?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have the usual clunking noise coming from the front of my fabia 1.4 8v (2001). After taking the right wheel off I just touched the plastic thing (bushes?) on the anti-roll bar and it cracked in half and fell off. I took the bits to a skoda garage to get a new one and they told me I'd need to replace the entire ARB at a cost of

You can just buy bushes the next size down. That seemed to work on our Ibiza.

plastic bits are part of the roll bar , so therefore are not available separately

so i think you will have to bite the bullet and pay the garage , or go to a cheaper independant VAG garage who should be able to do it cheaper

oh , and welcome to the forum

the bush is easily seperated from the anti-roll bar as seen in the above picture(shown with arb removed from car), they are about £3 each from the dealer.... but if you look closely this one has worn a groove into the anti-roll bar

also you will need to know the size of the anti-roll bar, they come in 3 different sizes iirc, 18mm , 19mm, 20mm

but the dealer should be able to tell you which one you have from the codes in the vehical indentification sticker which is under the carpet in the boot

Hi there, cheers for the welcome and thanks for all your quick replies. Any other info gratefully accepted.

(Teflon Tom - thanks 4 photo - the bushes that fell off my arb look different to the one in your picture - guess mine must be an older version or something?)

Nah its the same its just Toms inner bush part is missing completely.

 there's bits missing all over my car!! especially on the rear suspension, mine didn't have any rear bumpstops fitted:eek: and no upper dust caps, plus the springs were from an estate model:O .... i spoke to the geezer that used to own it today on the phone.... he's a right prat....
