HandBrake Sticking on vRS

Featured Replies

Advice wanted.

Expect this will be a simple solution, but i've noticed over the past month or so that the when reversing off the drive in the morning that i'm getting a loud squealling noise from the rear brakes. This only happens in reverse though. :(

The car is due for a service next week anyway, so i mentioned it to the Skoda dealer who said that this was a common problem due to the material used on the brakes, i.e they can stick especially when left overnight.

I've never had this on any previous car, so why should this be the case.

Anybody else had similar problems??

Is it just a case of applying copper grease to the back of the pads?

Appreciate any comments

Thanks :)

Is it mooing, or making a grinding noise that clears after a mile or 2?

There are many threads about mooing brakes on the vRS, and some about HBs sticking on (to save a search the sticking is typical behaviour).

In my experience is isn't unusual for cars with all round disks to make a clunk when they have been left standing overnight with wet brakes.

The handbrake just sticks slightly and then releases as the rust layer cracks.
