Squeaks Scrapes And Rattles

Featured Replies

I have an 06 Fabia vRS. Its done 4000 miles

Ever since I've had it there have been annoying noises.

Firstly, the rear brakes scrape whenever theyre applied at low speed.

Then the rear suspension squeaks when braking in reverse.

And where is a nasty knocking/rattling from the drivers side front suspension when going around a slow left hand turn at full lock on an uneven surface.

The car has been back to the garage three times to sort this out, the last time they kept it for four days.

Guess what? Still the same!

Any advice please???

I love the Furby to bits but this is stopping a great car from being a fantastic car.

Doesn't sound like your having much luck.

As far as I know the rear brakes scraping can be due to them starting to rust up from lack of use. They don't tend to do much under normal driving unless braking hard.

I was told by someone that you put your handbrake on lightly while driving for about 15 secs or something to solve that. I'm sure someone here will confirm.

My rear suspension squeaks only when going over harsh speedbumps, sure its not the rear brakes that are squaling?

I have an 06 which has the scraping noise from the rear brakes that you have described, I also work with someone who also has an 06 with the same problem so it seems common, the disks get a thin layer of rust on them very quickly even an hour after a wash they become visibly coated in rust so I assume this is the cause, Plenty of hard braking seems to be the cure though I have not tried myself.

I don’t have any of the others you mention, you need to get someone near you who has a vRS to try yours and give you more ammunition to use against your dealer.

I have a knocking noise around right hand turns coming from the drivers side front wheels/suspension I think we have a similar problem.

I also have noise from rear suspension but when going over speedbumps. it seem to get worse when it's wet and cold. I think it's the bushes on th rear suspension

I am actually getting a bit fed up as the car seems to be getting more and more creaks and groans from it. I think it just the cold weather but even my G reg fiesta did not do this.

car will have to go to garage with a big list of issues.

I hope I get mine sorted as I love the car

I think the front problems may be the ARB bushes or links? It's a common problem, but I'm afraid I can't remember the details :D

whats the big grin about on everyone of your posts Chris?

i'm sure I can tell you what it is after I have been to the dealers

Yes - I am indeed a Cheshire Cat :D:D:D

HTH!

I have had some of the same problems in my 2006 16v Elegance Combi. Have had the car into the dealer to check the rattling sound from the front ds but to no avail. Probably will have to go in and yell. The weather really changes the sound of these cars too, about 15 to 20 degrees celcius seems to be the best for mine.

I hope you find out what the rattling is though, it is a "worrying" sound.

I've somehow managed to get a crack in the instrument cluster plastic cover. Since that the dash rattles and squeeks. There are also some very annoying noises coming from either the rear sear latch or the rear seat belt holders. I think a trip to the dealers is in order for those

I've managed to sort out all the door rattles myself... I fitted dynamat to the front and rear doors + ensured that none of the wiring can come into contact with any metals / plastics. I just need to sort out the tweeter covers... the new tweeters decided to pop out and crack the front !

I can't stand rattles and squeeks. Hell of a car.. just let down by some dodgy interior trim.
