Locked my house phone - HELP!!

Featured Replies

Ring TalkTalk from your mobile, if you drive up the hill! 0870 087 3527, open Monday - Friday: 8am - 8pm.

The handset must be made by someone, but they've probably omitted that info - that's the usual way with this sort of kit. I can't find any more info or product info, past basic specs. I'm suspecting it's an Alcatel unit, but they'll have a different model number for it.

Failing that, take the battery out for an hour. Check if there's a backup 'button' type battery in there too. If there is, remove that as well.

That should cure it as well, in lieu of TalkTalk being useless ;) or you not running up the hill to call them for your mobile :D

Drove mile up road to call TalkTalk. After 10 minutes got through to someone.

He did not have a copy of the manual, and was trying to find one through google.

No joy, other than I lost one of the recharageable batteries down the side of the car seat.

Put a non-rechargable one in, and works fine - is anything likely to explode?

Nothing likely to explode, but dont put the handset on the basestation/charger otherwise the battery may explode.

Have taken phone off charge!!!!

Or just replace the std alkaline you've put in with a rechargable! A std alkaline's not going to last very long in a phone handset!

TBH I think it will still let you dial 999.

Is it sorted yet, Emily? Or are you still in a strop?

Strop is passing.

Not sorted the phone yet. Going to go out and look for other recharagable battery from side of car seat (raining to hard at the moment)

Feel a bit silly that I got in such a rage over a house phone, just hate it when things don't work for me and I can't do anything about.

Got to go into town this afternoon, so I will see about taking it back to CPWH to see if they can help.

I sort of blagged the phone from CPWH. I set up a phoneline with talktalk, and I mentioned that I needed a house phone, bloke got this one from the store room and said a tenner would do, ie I have no reciept.

Either that or it was free and he scammed

Can you imagine the conversation....

"Hello police, I've blocked my phone and yours is the only number I can ring.."

" Hello Emily, we know all about you.

The lifeguard, Fire Brigade and an emergency vet. are being dispatched as we speak, and Kim and Aggie are already in the helicopter...."
