Limping or speed restriction

Featured Replies

Hi all, been looking at this site for a month now since I got an 18 month old Octy II 2.0 Tdi with DSG hatchback and I've finally got a reason to ask a question, sadly it's because I have a problem.....

I got the car from Winchester Skoda to replace a BMW 330d that had been horrendously unreliable (auto gearbox had to be rebuilt at 81k miles after it blew up...

Welcome to Briskoda. :) Presumably the car has the balance of the 3 year Skoda/Skoda UK warranty remaining so the problems should be sorted out free of charge.

Yes it does and that's what I'm hoping.... just curious to know if there is a limp home (if 70mph is limping) of whether something else is happening as I couldn't find anything in the manual

yea, a sick octy will go into limp mode

Does certainly sound like it was in Limp Mode.

Hopefully you'll be sorted tomorrow.

Certainly sounds like a similar condition although mine is losing coolant as well with no obvious signs of a leak.... it's booked in to Winchester on Friday and I did suggest poss head gasket so they know it might be a long job  let's hope it's just a loose hoseclip and a dodgy sensor or something as I really need my car now...

Well, the visit to the dealer wasn't very conclusive.... they can't find where it's losing coolant as there are no visible leaks and a pressure test of the system showed no problem. The car also wouldn't go into limping mode during two extended roadtests - I think they did around 35 miles in all judging by the trip.

They've reset everything and just advised me to monitor it and if it starts limping and I'm anywhere near a Skoda dealer to take it straight there with the engine still running so they can plug it in and see what's happening.

The home journey of 25 miles passed without incident so we'll see what happens.....

Nothing worse than an intermittant fault - good luck with it.
