R32 to vRS Octavia

Featured Replies

After 8 months with a golf R32 i am picking up my RS Octavia a week on Monday. Looking forward to it.

You'll miss the engine note :(

I love the sound of the R32 being "given some", especially with an aftermarket exhaust - Awesome!

If you don't mind me asking, Why?

Oh, and welcome to the site :wavey:

Welcome Rossko

We have a one year old with another on the way so we need a car with a bit of room also the R32 suspension is a bit hard for the ****ty Scottish roads.I will really miss the R32, all i have ever owned is beetle's and golf's and it was the best car by far.Hope the RS lives up to the review's that i have read.

Coming from the other direction the RS is a hoot, but from your direction you may well be disappointed, and from what I have read the R32 is an awesome car. It will probably feel slow in comparison.

On the bright side, that huge boot will accommodate almost everything and for a mere 400 notes, you can turn it into a bit of a beast.

Whats the R32 put out as standard? - circa 230 / 240 brake? As said, only

Engine size

Do you not differentiate between diesel and petrol, so a 1.9 TDI is more than a 1.8T???

No, Engine size is engine size and that's that.David

I'm not 100% sure, but I think our government's system was used in the UK once upon a time.David

:( - so I guess diesels are not as popular then, eh?

Diesels are very popular.Diesel is reasonably priced over here. 1.8T Octavias are very rare, insurance costs being one concern. Car tax is just one of those things that you have to do.David

aha - the land of reasonably priced diesel. :D

The old UK system wasn't even as straightforward as yours. It was based on the "RAC Horsepower", which was a fairly meaningless calculation based on the cylinder bore and number of cylinders.

It will probably feel slow in comparison.

Actually, I suspect the opposite will be the case, because of the difference in the way N/A and forced induction engines deliver power. The R32 will will be faster, but I suspect the vRS will feel faster. Still, with a decent remap, the Skoda will live with the R32.

Do the Revenue Comissioners or the road equvalent still fall for the 'its a van honest' thing whereby if you blacked out the windows and had 1m from back seat to rear sill and ocassional transported sheep / stolen gates ( no thats a different type of travelling) it was A VAN

And vans get VAT back on diesel and flat low road tax.
