what is it?

Featured Replies

Under the steering column, just to the right, on my 2000 1.4 16v comfort, there is a switch that says 'on'.....

Any ideas?

It lets cool air into the compartment to cool a drinks can.

bo**ocks!

bo**ocks!
?? It does....although it can be either heated or cooled depending on the heater settings.

If it's in the little pocket on the right of the steering wheel then yes it is an 'air con' control. Lets the air flow into the pocket much the same as it does in the glovebox. I set mine to off as there's only enough room to cool my fags in there LOL

Isn't this compartment heated and the glovebox chilled?

Either way it seems a waste of time to me. Has anyone found anything of a temperature critical nature which they can keep in there?

It's exactly the right size for a 330ml can of pop , or a similar sized can of Budweiser , should they still be availible in the UK! IIRC when you can actually see the switch with 'ON' written on it , then the airflow in the compartment is on , pus the switch in and it is switched off. I suppose it would be handy to cool a can of pop on a hot day if you were driving , but you'd need the aircon on bloody freezing for ages before your drink was cold lol!
