Iv got a cow in the boot!!!!

Featured Replies

Hi guys, iv noticed that a few people r havin problems with mooooin. I also have this problem in reverse on occasions & seems 2 get louder when i brake. The most popular answer seems 2 b the counter balance but does this really solve the problem? Also a mate told me that it may cure the mooooin in reverse but it may start when goin forward. Again is this true?

What other reasons could there b?

Would appreciate ur thoughts, thanks

Mine now Moo's having changed the rear discs and pads, but it is fading the more miles i put on the discs.

My car moos too, but I call it a pig squeal.

Yeah mine sometimes sounds like a cow and a pig battling it out.

There are three options that I can think of:

1) Live with it - its what I did, its not a problem and will not cause any safety issues so don't worry about. It has only been reported when going backwards and only happens occasionally in most cases. :(

2) VW brought out a rear caliper carrier modification to cure the Polo from the same disese. Perhaps getting the same carriers from VW and fitting them to your Fabia would cure it.

3) Modify the rear carrier yourself - you need to add extra weight to the caliper and carrier to change the resonant frequency of the metal used. What is happening is the rear caliper and carrier is vibrating due to the slight friction between the rear brakes and this is amplied through the resonant frequency of the metal and then though the rear axle etc. :thumbdwn:

Hope this helps!!

Nice to to know I'm not the only one!!!

I don't know which part of the world you are from, but I had the same problem with my Vrs and took it to Dutton Foreshaw Skoda in Maidstone. They did an experimental repair/ adjustment thing to my car and it seems to have a 95% success rate.
