Brake pad wear indicator

Featured Replies

Having just changed to pads without the built-in wear indicator, I am left with a warning light on the dash.

Is it possible to turn this off with VAGCom / dealer computer, or should I butcher the cable off the old pad, short the leads together and refit it? If I do this, will the light still need resetting now that the loop has been "broken" once?

Mine has been "fixed" for the last 120k miles. Just create a "loop" from the old connector and heat wrap it. No need to ever refix

I thought that might be the answer. I'll just go and find a soldering iron and some heatshrink sleeving.

BTW, how long should they feel like new brakes (ie no braking)? I plan to follow Ferrodo's procedure as soon as I can find a suitable road tonight. Will this cure it?

Oh yes, it'll cure it, no worries. :D

he's happy :D you;ll be happy too soon :D

I know a nice road near Witchurch, 1 mile straight and a roundabout at each end, good for 10-20 loops :D
