Have a look on the brokers websites, drivethedeal, jamjar etc etc, and haggle for a new one at or around that price, should be possible.

Personally, it'd take advantage of the 0% finance offer, use your car as a trade in, whack your 5k into good savings acc / ISA / shares, and use it to pay off the car, but at the same time gaining interest on the remainder of the account. Everybody wins

I'd probably be looking at the same setup as you, just wondering whether to get ESP or not. I figure leather seats and ICE are better bought afterwards.

I managed to find a private sale (autotrader) immaculate top spec VRS even had IPOD connector, cruise control, mud flps, headlamp protectors, 2nd set of new mats and full auto glym protection, 55 plate 1 year old 8000 miles and 1st service included for £9100.

On the subject of ESP, if you can afford it i'd say get it. There has been lots of discussion on here about it's merits but if it saves your bacon once it's paid for itself many times.

The profit margin on Skoda's is *very* low, so I wouldn't expect a great deal off.

Dealers are more likely to throw in extras like mud flaps, mats, etc etc, as this doesnt cost them much obviously.

At a guess, the margin on the VRS is probably about 1k so if you found a nice salesperson (like I was), you could push them down to £600 ish. Also depends on the dealer because, for example, the more discount you get the less comission the sales person gets (if the garage works in that way) so they are less likely to budge.

You'll find they will be more flexible on 2nd hand cars as that is where their profit (and thus room to move) is..

but you won't find one with the options you want (if you want any options!)

I paid £12,500 for a red one, with Xenons, CD Changer, and Cruise Control
