service schedule query

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've just bought a 2001 octavia vrs which has just passed 40k miles. it's had the cambelt and water pump changed and the last owner had it on intermittent servicing. I would like to start normal servicing again and have just noticed the service light coming on so to get to the point, can anyone tell me what type of service I should have done to get back on track?

thanks

I think this is correct:

Variable servicing is 2 years or 20,000 miles or when the spanner appears.

Fixed is 10,000 or 12 months.

If the last service was done not to long ago (and included the belt/pump), then you can ignore the service reminder and drive till you're on 50K/year further. Then when you bring it in, ask the garage to reset the service interval to fixed 10K servicing. They can do this with their VAGCOM 5112 (or whatever the number is ;)).

Thought id bump this thread, saves creating a new one and its a simular issue.

On a variable service the service light appears 1000 miles before its due.

What happens on a fixed service schedule, does it count down or just say service when its due ???

Reason i ask, is that im on variable service schedule and in the next few hundred miles i will be hitting 10k since my last variable service.

Just want to check, see if the garage did a dash reset or a vagcom reset.

It counts down also from 1,000 miles.

It counts down also from 1,000 miles.

Thats good, looks like they set it right as im 200 miles of 10k

Are you servicing it yourself or had any quotes for the service?

No not yet its not due as its on variable servicing. Thinking of changing to fixed when my next service light appears.
