Cambelt for Octavia VRS 2003 model

Featured Replies

I have kust had a 30,000 mile service done on my 4 year old skoda octavia vrs and the garage has told me that I need to have a cambelt change in May of this year which is when the vrs is 4 years old. Is this right, when the car only has 30,000 miles on it? I thought it would be done on mileage and not on the age of the car! Surely at 30,000 miles it is not due a cambelt change? Can anyone advise me?

4 years or 70K miles unfortunately. Better safe than sorry :)

Agreed.

Cambelt is rubber... rubber breaks down with age as well as use.

See this 'sticky' for more information. My car had only done 18738 miles in 4

and thats exactly what my water pump looked like on my 51 plate 48k mile vRS when i had it done last July

4 years 60,000 miles Q ;)

4 years 60,000 miles Q ;)

I thought it was 120,000 km, i.e. 74,000 miles?

Yes I thought that the mileage had just come down

As for the water pumps , I have seen so so many like in the pic come off when the cam belt has been done

We use the metal impellad ones so that there is no more issues with the pumps

I cannot believe that the whole of the VAG range still to this day replace it for another plastic one

We are doing the cam belts now from £280.00 + VAT
