Solar Sunroof

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the Solar Sunroof can be fitted to the Superb after purchase or if it has to be factory fitted? I asked my dealer and he didn't seem to have a clue.

I would have said no, lots of electrics involved, new headliner etc. Very expensive job if it can be done.

hell no mate, afraid not!

what is the point of a solar sunroof? whats it do? supply extra electric? surely thats what the alternator does!

It powers the a/c system (well at least the blower motors) when you are away from the car. Meaning on a very hot day it isnt so scorching hot when you get back in.

Bit of lateral thinking - if not exactly practical. Cover the sunroof when parked to prevent any light getting to the photosensitive bits? :D

Of course, for a more permanent solution you could paint the sunroof so it neatly matches the rest of the roof!!

I am sure that it can be done but it would need to be a very precise job and I am unsure how you would go about curtting the roof?

anyone out there with a sensible answer?

I would've loved one of these, and I would've had one had I bought the Elegance I looked at 1st, didn't buy it cos I wasn't used to the throaty sound of the engine and thought the exhaust was on it's way, 1200 quid cheaper and a 54 plate with 75k on it, didn't like the green leather either.

Green leather? Ivory leather?

Na, it was green iirc, or very dark shade of green anyway, struck me as odd as well, mind you the car didn't add up full stop, it'd had a new engine at about 60k and the front bumper seemed to be a different shade of silver, anyway I walked from it because there was too much that didn't seem right about it, I think the most off putting thing was the guy selling took me up a country lane at full throttle for some reason.

Never been on a test drive like THAT before

Id just had a major write off 10 days before, I wouldn't say I was bricking it, but I did ask him to slow down a bit, but the fact we went warp factor one made me think he was hiding a fault that only showed up when cold and under say 1500 rpm, it ran ok when I got to drive it, but I couldn't get over why a PD engine needed replacing so early and why the bumper was different in shade, he told me the engine had got water damaged but as he was a trader he couldn't say how or why.
