Hello, pleased to meet you all, I'm glad to see there is such good support for a truly splendid marque. I must confess, I own one of the Pre-VW RWD cars and am unsure if my kind are welcome round here ;) but I do have questions concerning the Fabia; namely, the engines.

I have heard thet the 1.4 petrol engines use the same block as the older cars (Favorit, Rapid etc). Can someone please confirm if this is true or a load of old dingo's kidneys.

Is the block of the 1.4 16v (100bhp) any different to the 1.4 8V or the 1.4 16v(75bhp)?

Can you see where I'm headed with this? I want to bolt a 1.4 16v(100bhp) engine into the back of my 1989 Skoda Rapid 136.

If anyone could direct me to a technical drawing of the engine or photo's of it out of the car (flywheel, engine mounts and the engine to gearbox boltholes), it would be greatly appreciated.

If this definently won't work then at least my mind will be at rest but if I can do it, then I WILL do it!

Cheers.

hello and welcome!

i'm afraid that i can't help you with your technical enquiries but can say with confidence that of course 'your type' (!) are welcome here.

i'm sure someone will be around eventually who can answer your questions! :)

am unsure if my kind are welcome round here

This is a local board for local people we'll have no trouble here :D

Rotflmfao!

Welcome to Briskoda, Rapid Boy. :D big k (aka K) might be able to answer your query when he next favours us with his presence. (He has a preference for older Skodas over new, and for putting non-standard engines in them).

hi rapid boy the answer is yes basically the 1.4 fab block is roughly the same as 136 rapid but there are quite a few internal changes you may well be able to put 1.4 8v in back but would have to change quite a few things sump, oil pump, oil pickup, manifolds, carbs etc, don't know if this can be done have thought about this myself but am going the v8 route in my rapid!! deffo no for the 1.4 16v as the engine sits on the angle on the rapid and you would have all sorts of oil flow probs. you may consider looking for a 135 (carb) favorit that will go staright in (i have done this many a time) swapping over the various parts and although the 135 doesn't have as much power as the 135 the 135 has a better pick up hope this hepls big k.

Thank you very much, that has helped a lot. Shame about the 16v but a V8 sounds more appealing anyway.:) What mods do you have to do to get away with that? Can you use the Skoda gearbox?

lots of mods hell yes hope to use skoda box lookiing at getting a bellhousing converter plate and a modified spigot shaft not sure if box will take the power as i intend to intoduce twin turbo's to the equasion

Err, sorry mate, you lost me there. Which 135 are you talking about? :(

skoda favorits had two engines both 1.3's one 135 and one 136 same engine just different strokes!!

135 less powerful than 136 but has better pick up. 1.4 8v maybe too much ball ache to be worth doing considering the not so great performance increase. Can I fit a higher pressure oil pump to a 16v to make it work at an angle? Hmmm, where can I get a jet engine for my rapid?

1.8T engine?

Yeah, that'll do nicely! Now how do I make it fit?

It was the CR that was lower in the 135, used in the Rapid too with bendix injection, normally used for countries with lower octane/quality fuel.
