fabia headlights help!

Featured Replies

help - both headlights have simultaneously stopped working on full beam. Sidelights work ok and I can still flash the lights undipped but that's it. I have no idea about the inner workings of my car but any help much appreciated. thanks!

so the sidelights work

do the dipped beam headlamps work ?

do the main beams work ?

sorry just trying to decipher your question , oh and welcome to the forum

If both dips have gone then its probably the bulbs. There are some looms available that stop the bulbs blowing in this manner.

hi thanks for your reply - I can only get full beam to work when I flash the headlights (when the blue light shows up) otherwise regardless of which switch I have the dial on, I only get sidelights.

You need to have lights switched ON, in daylight/OFF mode full beam only flashes.

sounds like dipped beam bulbs gone , as Lummox says above , check out the part number for the wiring looms (dealer only) and of course 2 bulbs (motor factors/halfrauds)

There are 3 headlight bulbs. The side lights, main beam and high beam (when the blue light shows). As above, sounds like the main beam bulb. It's easy to change but to be honest, a dealer will probably do it for you for the cost of the part if it's quiet and you ask nicely (I've found anyway!)

The part number for the resistance wire is 6Y0 941 855. As this comes as a single part, you will need to order two per vehicle.

If your car is under warranty then it will be FOC.

Sorry but you are confusing things a bit. The light modes are

1. Side lights

2. Dipped beam (so you dont dazzle drivers)

3. Main/Full beam

But yes you are correct its a couple of bulbs and depending on engine they may well pop them in for you.

Thank you all for your help - it's very much appreciated! Katie

Mine has a similar (but not identical) problem , ie , the sidelights and normal headlights work , and I can still flash the headlights by pulling the stalk towards me , but pushing it down (to switch full beam on permanently) has no effect. The dealer told me it needs a new indicator stalk.

Should be loads of them floating around, I have removed a fair few when fitting CC stalks for people.

They normally get thrown away.

I think I have a few spare..lol

I often get asked if I think it would be worth anything on eBay :P

Ah yes, my bad. I meant only to point out that each mode has a dedicated bulb. Correct terminology would have helped ;)

Seems strange that the bulb failure light and alarm weren't activated

What does the new loom / resistance wire change about the way the bulbs blow?

Sorry to tag onto the end of this thread, but what's the bulb code for the main beam? I can't find my user manual and I've lost a bulb, need to know which one to buy!
