fuel economy - vrs

Featured Replies

whats the fuel economy like in your VRS? salesman told me he cant get it to go below 40........ is this just salesman talk?

I've had mine for 6 months, covered 10,000 miles.Averaged 44 mpg.Best 47,worst 41.I suppose I would get better figures if I slowed down, but I can't resist putting my foot down.I just seems to lunge forward at the merest hint of throttle.Lovely.

It depends, round town I can see 35mpg and sometimes 30mpg in heavy traffic. Normal driving up to 60 mph sees me about 50 to 55mpg. Motorway driving is either 45 to 55 mpg. It really depends on driving style. If you have a heavy right foot, then expect the figures to be lower.

It's not as good as I thought it was. Everyone harps on about '55mpg all day long' but IMO that's cuckoo land unless you sit at 55mph all day and only drive in summer.

The trip computer reckons I'm getting 50mpg average but the brim method sees results of about 46/ 47. That's a combo of mainly motorway and a bit of town with the odd bit of hooliganism thrown in.

I think it all depends how you drive it. If you baby it, you can see 55+mpg .... if you cane it, you can see 30's mpg and if you track it, you can probably get it even lower than that. :D

Babying it is soooo difficult with all the torque. It's an exercise in self control half the time. What's the PD100 like on juice in comparison?

It used to return around 50mpg day in day out with me driving it (which as anyone who's been in a car with me will know is "spirited"). Behaving, I could get it a bit higher, but my other half drove it only once and achieved 72mpg  She was driving like Miss Daisy though and we were doing 60mph for most of the 70 mile trip!

Holy moly.

Who needs a Toyota Prius? Pah...

worst i've seen 22 mpg , but that was after a track day at Oulton Park

best i've seen is 71 mpg , on the way to work , 17.5 miles including a half mile uphill,5 mile motorway, the rest dual carriageway

Hehe - she's yet to drive the Mondeo, but I suspect she could work similar wonders!

Chris

I use mine everyday for work, have covered 10k in the last 7 months and average around 45mpg. I usually do about 50 miles a day doing a mix of stop/start around town and some 'spirited' runs down the back lanes and on A roads. Usually get around 360 to 420 miles from a tank.

Fabia vRS mpg - only had car since Dec 14th, 15,800 miles when bought.

Car currently used for short short journeys i.e. mostly 3 miles there, 3 miles back. Light to medium traffic. Brim to brim method used. Can't resist booting it every now and again though.

I managed to get 11mpg after 5 laps of Coombe :D

You will get around 43-5 as an average over about 10k.

I drive my car (Ibiza 130) to enjoy it and have averaged 41mpg while I have owned it so the salesman is probably being quite fair as my car generally hits 90mph on the way to work each day. Mine does 50mpg at 70mph so basically its impossible for me to ever get as good as 50mpg! Does about 60mpg at 60mph and 40mpg at 90 to 100mph

Daily drive of 6 miles to and from work, no remap, standard filter... 34mpg.

Here's my consumption figures over the past few months (brim to brim method every time)

10/17/2006 39.05 (first week of ownership :D)

10/25/2006 46.27

10/30/2006 46.55

11/05/2006 43.55

11/12/2006 44.33

11/23/2006 46.25

12/03/2006 45.39

12/10/2006 44.17

12/16/2006 43.57

12/27/2006 50.32

01/05/2007 41.49

1/14/2007 42.71

1/22/2007 44.43

1/30/2007 44.73

02/06/2007 46.16

02/10/2006 40.5

2/13/2006 48.3

200miles of driving is to and from work which is 50% motorway, 50% housing/industrial estates. Generally cover 100miles at weekends where I enjoy the car :D Pretty happy with the figures although I was expecting slightly better.
