Service Now! confusion

Featured Replies

Hi,

I got my Octavia last summer and when reading through the manual saw that you could hold down the trip-counter reset button and turn the ignition on to see how many miles your car thought you would need to drive before your next service. When I first tried this out, the car told me there were 4,500 miles until my next service.

At about 1900 miles, the car started telling me a service was due every time I switched the car on (all well and good so far).

I had the car serviced at my local Skoda dealer, and now I don't see the message every time I start the engine, but if I hold down the resrt button and turn the ignition, the screen just says "Service Now!".

I've queried this with the dealer, who said they'd never heard of this function and that the car would tell me when it needed a service. I've also phoned up Skoda UK, and to be honest, the chap I spoke to there wasn't much help either (although he has said he will phone me back on Monday or Tuesday this week).

Can anyone let me know if this behaviour is normal? Has the garage reset everything it should do?

Many thanks in advance,

Adam.

If you hold down the button to long it resets the service indicator for fixed servicing.

I'd get it reset at your dealer.

You joined in July last year, and waited until now to ask a stupid question:confused:

You could at least have asked a sensible one like ' Why does my car smell of bread?'

Tut.

Depending on whether you are on fixed or variable servicing then I don

On the Octavia 2 should you want to go onto fixed servicing the service is every 10.000 miles or 2 years.
