Servicing

Featured Replies

Hi,

As you are all aware the reason Skoda's have such big boots is to take the money to the dealer for servicing, now mine is no doubt coming up for its first service and I want to minimise the profit the dealer makes out of me, so where is the best place in the Northwest to get a VRs TDi serviced? Both cost and service are a consideration!

I am sure this has been asked before, but I can't find it.

Cheers,

Dwain.

You could have it serviced at a good independent and save quite a bit on labour rates and a little bit on parts but make sure they use approved parts to protect your warranty; they'll do this if they're any good. I did this with my previous Fabia and never had any issues with 3 small warranty issues and nobody once asked me for proof of service history. If you're uncomfortable with this, ask the service manager at the dealer if they can get close to the price you've been quoted by an independent. Offer to supply your own oil (to the correct spec) to make a meaningful saving so all they have to do is charge you for is their labour. No harm in asking IMO.

Woodheads in Blackpool have always done a pretty good job. Service my dad's too.

Have you checked out the relevant section of the forums for North West Dealers ?

I just got completely bent over by a dealer that has decided all stuff is none warrenty.

They are going to fix a couple of things under warrenty, but that will most likely be their last ever vist as they will seriously need to redeem themselves.

Care to share the dealers name?

Clicky here for Northwest dealer reviews.

Parkside (Bolton) or Simpsons (Colne and now Preston) are popular ones.

You could also consider Awesome GTI (Manchester - about 5 mins from Trafford Centre)

Not yet, they have a chance to improve their reputation when they do the warrenty work and fix some things they messed up.

Once that is done however, you can be assured of a review based on both visits.
