Taping noise from front wheels

Featured Replies

Imagine there's a sticky patch on your tyres that on each revolution makes a noise, something like tak, tak, tak, tak, tak etc...... faster you go more intense and so on.

At motorway limits with radio off you can just hear it, will duly pop it into Willis' for a check over but anyone else experience this strange noise?

Cheers

Could be as simple as a stone caught in the tyre tread.

Checked, that :) all clear, the grooves on my Dunlops are quite wide anway.

Sounds like a Screw, Bolt or nail in the Tyre. I had the same noise and it took ages to find.

I've had the dreaded bump bump!!

Eventually tracked it down to a flat spot on a rear tyre. Jacked the car up and span all the wheels, it stood out a mile when you look straight across the top of the tyre. Got new tyres and now smooth and quiet. Not sure how the flat spot got there though.

That's your diesel engine mate :P

No seriously though I would think a stone, or nail etc. Possibly on the inner wall area, so I would take the wheels off and inspect the tyres if you can't find it elsewhere just for safety reasons.
