brakes pads

Featured Replies

Just about to embark on fitting my new discs and brake pads.

As the DS2500 don't come with a brake wear sensors what do I do tp prevent the warning lights from coming on?

Do I butcher a wire off the original pads and loop it back on itself?

Or do I do something else?

Cheers.

Adrian.

You skeptic :P

Not a skeptic....just couldn't believe it's as easy as that......well ok then.... a slight skeptic then. ;)

Did you do front and back....and do you have the piston winding tool?

Not personally - I pootled round to a friend's house and fixed his computer whilst he was busy with torque wrenches and copper grease :D. The fluid will be done by a main dealer.

Make & Model for the piston tool would be helpful ;)

I'll try and find out, although you might get a quicker answer by asking Des, I'm 99% sure he's changed the back pads himself.

How about here for the tool?

Anyone running DS3000's?

Do they all squeal this badly?

Fitted to Wilwood 4-pots... 310x32 disks

No, but.....

Do they all squeal this badly?

More than likely ;) They're not renowned for being "user (or wheel) friendly"

Bill,

Jon (TaviaRS) was running 3000's i believe.

I seem to recall him talking about squealing, and also that they don't do your wheels much good due to the metal content in the pads...

Lots of cleaning would seem to be the order of the day :D

I've just bought the piston winding tool from Halfords....

It's ok...Bill's got dark coloured wheels like Jon, IIRC,.....no cleaning required. ;)

Yep....Sykes-Pickavant model number 66066500.

Re the 3000s' date=' yep, they squeal worse than the guy in Deliverance :D Dust is outrageous, doesn't just coat the wheels but the front wing as well. Stopping power? Awesome! :D They also eat discs, set will last about 25k miles.[/quote']

Eat disks and last 25K miles.. Woohoo.. :D

Ha.. that would be a massive improvment for me..

Pads are not long lived for me..

Black wheels already... Just hoping not to have melted brakes into paintwork tho like some can do...

 Cheers

Bill, that 25k includes 30-40 Ring laps on this set, now no grooves left.

Yep, they shaft the paintwork but nowhere near as bad as the Performance Friction carbon metallics :D

I'm well impressed with the DS2500's. No fade all day at Elvington and not even any noticable wear!

I was braking better than an STi 8 too, and that was the thoughts of the Impreza driver :D

Steve

Group Ns from Sejoc IIRC. Always said that with DS2500s, those discs and the right fluid, you'll outbrake most things. Would people believe? Makes a very good combination.

Hey, WTF I just answered Geoffs question, yet I come in before him  Ah Geoff, change your clock mate! :D

ooooh, this is fun! Can I get Geoff's post onto the next page before some cunning moderator notices ;)

Must try harder :D

Sejoc Grooved only discs. Drilled discs crack.

;)

Steve
