Hi to all.

Hi,

I have just bought a 2001 model Octavia 4x4 1.8T estate and was surfing the web for info and came across this site.

Great, a forum full of fellow skoda owners and enthusiasts.

About me,

Its not my first skoda, it started with a 130 Rapid coupe back in the early 1990's followed by a 130 saloon. I road rallied & nav ex'd both of these cars with some sucess and progressed onto a 136 favorit that I used for a while before I converted into a trials car. I won my class in quite a few PCT's (production car trials) between 1999-2001 and had a go at some classic trials in her until the wife hit a tree on a PCT and that was that.

My mum used to own a bright yellow rapid convertible in the early 1990's, wish we still had it! and the wife ran a Felicia for over 3 years until recently.

I have many questions but thats for other threads.

Speak to you soon,

Steve.

Hi Steve,

I too have just bought an Octavia 4x4, what made you chose yours? did you look at many before choosing the one you bought? and do you have any plans for 'improvements'? You should see my post to see the kind of power some of the guys are running.........amazing!

Hi Sweedish,

I bought my Octavia purely on impulse, an American I work with was going back home to live and wanted to sell it quickly so £1100 changed hands and shes mine.

I have never driven a 1.8T Octavia estate but have always thought it would be a great car to own, plenty of room for the wife, kids and dog plus she looks a bit of a sleeper. Tame from the outside but with enough uuumph to surprise other road users.

The spec is great, I am wanting for nothing and the drive is superb.

Its in the body shop next week having a couple of parking dents and bumper scrapes (American touch parking!) dealt with then off to get a full stainless exhaust fitted, see my thread under Octavia about longlife exhausts.

Hope to get her chipped when funds allow and upgrade the discs and pads.

One happy lad,

Later,

Steve.

Hi and welcome, sounds like you got quite a bargain.

wow Steve thats an absolute bargain!!!!!, am sure all they guys will agree on here, once you have had a 'proper' 4wheel drive car, its very difficult to get back to fwd, you will def enjoy the drive!!!

Will check out your other post, let us know how you get on!

I thought it was just the italians who did the 'touch' (bang) parking thing!!!!

I have 2 cars to sell to keep the wife happy, my current daily driver is a ford Maverick LWB but I also have a Audi 100 Avant 2.8 V6 Quattro Manual sat in the garage. It was my plan to restore this and use it but when the Octavia came up I had to take it. Beautiful car to drive, the V6 power and 4wd is addictive. Still I am sure that with some fetling the Octy will be just as much fun.

ATB,

Steve.

Welcome from another 4X4 Estate owner. :)
