3rd annual service

Featured Replies

Just had the vRS serviced and i was told that there was a build up of Oxidisation on the front wheels by the Service lady, but on the service print out it states "Slight Corrosion on front discs". Is this one and the same thing and what is it? Anything to worry about?

Oil filter -

10/40w semi is the right one for annual services, Im going to use Mobil 1 fully synthetic though when I do mine in the next week or so.

Is 'service' the price just to drop the oil and change the filter?

I've taken it as Service and oil change as they've given me the service checklist sheet with all the checks they've done.

p.s. supprised no one has changed the brake fluid yet and didn't even get a call to ask if i wanted it done - what with it being three years old!

I'd get that done pronto  .

I made my dealer change mine for free before purchase as it was just two years old (the car) and hadn't been done, even though it had been serviced at 20k by Skoda.

Probably had more bargaining power though before the purchase

Most surprised the brake fluid hasn't been asked about, although I did explicitly say to do it on mine at just over 4 years from new.

As for the corrosion query, a rim of corrosion building up on the edge of the disc, just outside the swept area (dead obvious what/where I mean through spokes if you've got standard 5-spoke alloys) is quite normal. If there's corrosion more towards the middle of the swept area, brake harder sometimes (if you normally brake gently 300m from a roundabout, stay on the power until 200m type stuff) and it should clear off.

Corrosion on the alloys is a different matter, and should look like "solid clouds" of whitish crystals.
