I've already upgraded from the standard HU (the old ones up for grabs), and OMG its the quickest way i've found to loose all skin off my knuckles. However i was seriously disappointed with the sound quality, its painfully poor.

The HU is a JVC KD-AVX2, and in my last car it was awesome with OEM speakers, however i don't think i'm so lucky in the Furby.

Basically i'm looking for a bit of advice for what other people have done to improve sound quality, ie what speakers would you recommend for the minimal space in the Furby. And any ideas for amps & mounting locations.

I'm pretty much looking for advice on the whole kaboodle (except HU).

Much appreciated in advance

Amp attached under the passenger seat and front 6.5" components sounds about right. Only problem is you're limited to about 60mm recess behind the woofer as a bl**dy great metal bar is in the way.

Cheers,

i've currently got the OEM 6 disc changer under the passenger set, but i want rid of that

where abouts for mounting the sub?

I haven't got a sub... I may end up with one but for now a good front amp and component speakers setup will do for me...

I've (currently at least) retained the factory head unit. It's not too bad a set. Can apparently suffer from interference. Main drawback compared to aftermarket higher end stuff is a crippling lack of EQ, other than Bass/Treble.

For subs, I've considered Kenwood KFC WDA69RC, Genesis 6x9 subs, Infinity Basslink etc... I don't want a traditional "big heavy box" solution as I value my bootspace and don't need the bad back from lifting it out every time I want to go shopping.

One thing the Fabia VRS suffers from is a lot of road/tyre noise. It's possible to reduce that with a Noisekiller kit.

Agree with the road noise. It kills the sound. I've sound deadened the front doors. Made a noticable difference to the sound of the front speakers.

How would one go about reducing road noise even further?

The problem is the OEM speakers are rubbish, when I had my old octy vRS I changed the speakers and ran the OEM headunit. The difference was amazing, it just showed how bad the original speakers were.

How much are the sound deadening kits?

I looked into doing this, then screamed when i saw that the doors were the same inside as mk4 golfs (windo runners mounted on the inner panel.

So where abouts did you apply it.

As for speakers, get a ampifer (you wont notice a differnce to uprated speakers otherwise) and fit these:

Car Audio Direct - The UK's leading car audio and stereo resource.

Fabias have very tight door cards, and those speakers are one of the only sets that will fit AND alow for excursion.

I got them off american ebay for

I agree with the boot space, as i like to go biking etc, so space is good.

I was thinking of taking out the spare and dropping a sub in there, with a pretty solid mesh on, Has anyone done that? or is it just a bad idea
