Handbrake issue

Featured Replies

Time for another question. Has anyone seen this phenomena?

My new Octy as far as the handbrake goes is the same as the Mk1. It

Handbrakes on my old Mk1 elegance and my Mk2 elegance have been spot on, never had any problems with the car rolling off even on steep hills. Could it need adjusting maybe?

The handbrake never needs to be pulled up excessively on my car either, just 3 or 4 clicks.

My handbrake is absolutely fine.

Have no idea what you are talking about regarding the graphics of the car on the screen??

Hi Jonno. When you put the car in reverse you get a nice picture of the car on the radio screen. As you aproch something as well as the bleep bars appear closer to the car. My display seems to stick

Car graphic only with factory fit reversing sensors.

When it's stuck, are the reversing lights on as well?

No. Just the graphic on the screen. I stuck it in neutral one morning and had a look, not even a beep as a walked past the back of the car

Might be a new head unit then.

I thought you only get beep and graphic when box is in reverse - in neutral nothing happens anyway.

I agree that when the jumbo box is forward, as an armrest, it is harder to get at the handbrake, but it works just as well.

Thats the issue here. If i leave mine in reverse gear and leave the car in gear for say 12hrs or so then when i get back in and drive off then sometimes the car seems stuck in reverse as far as the stream display goes, If i stop put the car in neutral then the display is still reverse, bash the box to 1st a few times to reverse it clears.

I seem to be the only one with this problem I have reported it but all they say is "skoda recommend you leave it in gear when parked"

Oh I see, sorry. Sort of electronic false memory then. If they can't find a fix, why not park it in a forward gear?
